“Would you open the door now finally?”, Rich was basically screaming and hammering on the door.

“O my god, he will find me and then… I don’t know what will happen then. Please don’t let him find me here; he would probably kill me or so, please…” I leant my head against Tina’s shoulders and she hugged me trying to comfort me.
“No, we won’t let him do anything against you and I’m sure Tom will handle the situation so that Rich won’t get in. He will not find you here”
“Promised?” – “Promised”

“Sorry Mr. but you know what time it is right now?”, Tom said “My wife and I are actually trying to get some sleep and don’t want to be woken up by a crazy guy like you. And as to your wife, I have no idea where she is. But I don’t think it was a joke that she said she would kill herself, I mean no wonder she did that having a husband like you… And now I would really appreciate it if you went to your room again or somewhere else but please stop bothering us with your personal problems!”

Then I could hear Rich walk away shouting “Fine, but don’t think that I will not search for her any longer, trust me, I will…”

I was still in shock but it seemed that for this night I was safe.

“Hey, try to get some sleep now, Av. You should rest for some hours after all that stress. And tomorrow we’ll help you to get off the ship, ok?!” Tina said and Tom offered me to sleep in his bed and he would just take a chair.

“You’re so nice; I don’t know what I would have done without you guys!” And after some minutes I fell asleep because I was so exhausted. I couldn’t believe how much more relaxed you were if you didn’t have to be afraid of the person lying next to you.

“Have you got everything you need?” Tina asked.
I was checking everything- some clothes, money, my purse, … That was everything I needed for the next time. “Everything there” I answered and I felt really weird that morning.
On the one hand I was so happy to finally get away but on the other hand I was terribly afraid that Rich would find me
We had reached the harbor of L.A. and the ship was supposed to make a stop there for some hours and then go on to Hawaii.

“Of course we’ll come with you until you’ve found a safe place to stay”, Tom stated.
“That’s so sweet of you, what would I do without you guys...” I was so lucky to have them on my side.

One last glimpse into the mirror (I couldn’t even believe that this was me), then I put my sunglasses on and the three of us left the cabin.

On the ship all hell was lose. Obviously Rich had informed the staff about me having disappeared and now the police was investigating the whole ship. I was really worried they would recognize me or search all the rooms but they were busy concentrating on other stuff: They had found the pieces of my dress on the railing and were talking to Rich that they were convinced I had committed suicide.

I could overhear their talk from far and strangely Rich seemed to be satisfied with that. But I didn’t trust him. Probably he would hire a detective to find me; you could never be sure what he had in mind or what he was planning next…

As soon as we had left the ship we searched for a hotel where I could live for the next days until I had figured out a plan what I would do and where I would live in the future. I would also have to take on a new name so nobody would recognize me. Although we had lived in Vancouver before and I was sure that no one in L.A. knew my name I had to play on the safe side.

So I checked in under the name Karen Thompson and got to my room. Before I said good bye to Tina and Tom and they gave me their phone numbers in case anything should go wrong.

I didn’t have much to unpack so I just locked the door from the inside and let myself fall onto the bed. It wasn’t exactly a luxurious room but I had to use my money wisely cause I didn’t know how long I would have to live with it.

I looked on my watch and saw that it was already midday. That meant that the ship had left the harbor again half an hour ago.

As I was lying there on my bed I felt my eyes close slowly and I was drifting into sleep. Sleep that I had deserved after all this stress and anxiety.

But after some time I got woken up again by a strange noise. I didn’t want to open my eyes at first but then I heard a voice say “Hi honey, how nice to finally meet you again…”

hey, I know I haven't updated in quite a while but that was because I as soo busy with school, now that I have more time i will update regularly.

I turned around quickly and sat up in bed when I realized that my worst nightmare had become reality.

Rich was standing next to the bedside and his stale blue eyes were looking straight into mine. He had this devilish grin again and put his hands firmly on my shoulders.

I looked at him in total shock and before I was able to say anything he started talking “Did you really think I wouldn’t find you? I’m not as stupid as you may think. You could change your appearance any way you like and I would still recognize those bright blue eyes. They always give you away. You just had to put your sunglasses down for one second before you left the ship and I knew that it was you. You would be too afraid to kill yourself and I know that. See, you just can’t do a thing without me…”

What was that supposed to mean? Had he come to finally kill me now because I was to afraid to do it myself? Slowly I tried to move further away from him but with each centimetre that I moved backwards he came one centimetre closer.

“But how … did you…” – “How did I get in here?” he asked, his voice full of anger.
“That was easy. I followed the three of you after you had left the ship and then waited in the hotel lobby to hear under which name you would check in. Some minutes later I got to the reception and told them that my wife had already gone to our room and was sleeping, if they could be so nice as to give me the second key. And that was it. But you don’t seem to be too happy to see me here…”

Wow, he could almost read my mind. Of course I wasn’t happy, I was scared to death and my whole body felt like paralyzed.

I didn’t want to think about what was gonna happen next because the mad expression on his face combined with a scary smile told me that he was ready to do anything.

Because I didn’t say a word he went on talking “You know I’m not the kind of guy who likes to see his wife run away and you should know that. You know what happened last time when you danced with this guy, I bet you don’t want that to get worse this time..”

I didn’t see any other way then what I was about to do now. I knew that it was absolutely crazy but I had nothing to lose anyway. With all my courage I told him:
“Rich, I want a divorce. I can’t go on like this any longer and I have the right to do get a divorce if I want and if there are obvious reasons, which there definitely are.”

At first he said nothing, then he came closer and closer and then he said in a calm voice “You don’t have any rights, you are allowed to do what I say you’re allowed to do and nothing more, you get that? On our wedding day you promised to stay with me till death do us part and therefore the only way you can get rid of me is death. If you want to have that, why not, but you won’t get a divorce.”

Secretly, I tried to call the Police, but Rich saw that and asked me harshly “Are you trying to call Tina, your good old friend? Though luck, but she and her take – care – of – other – women – husband have joined the fish under the sea half an hour ago.” He almost couldn’t stop laughing. “Well, I always say, it’s better not to chime in in other people’s business.”

With my whole body trembling I wanted to get to the door but Rich had both keys and the door was still locked. “You’re trying to escape again, well, I see I have to take some measures now” and then he pulled a gun out.

That was it. He would kill me and there was no way out. I felt my life passing by. Crying I broke down on the floor and waited for him to finally bring this torture to an end.

You finally updated!!! You left us all on the biggest cliff-hanger EVER!

I went totally crazy when she saw that it was Rich. If he pulls that trigger the story's over. So he can't! He better not!
