I knew something big was about to happen when my mother yelled up to Chesney. I walked out of the house and down the block. We were going to need some back up. Uncle Chase was one of the top lawyers in the area, so I figured I’d go get him. I walked up to his house and knocked on the door. Aunt Ginnie answered the door.

“Hey there Alex, what brings you here?” She asked smiling.

“I need Uncle Chase, is he here by chance?” She let me inside the house.

“Yeah, he’s in the living room with your Aunt Catherine.”

That’s good.

Aunt Cat was awesome. She was the one you went to if you really needed help. Little kids thought she was a vampire. I knew she didn’t drink blood, but I was starting to think the same. She was a Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgeon, A.K.A, a surgeon who worked on kids’ hearts. She was just like my grandma, in terms of being the best around. I walked into the living room and sat down.

“Uncle Chase, Aunt Cat, we have a minor problem.” I said as soon as I was seated.

“What’s wrong bud?” Uncle Chase asked.

“Sara is back in town. She’s trying to get custody of Chesney.” I said filling them in.

“Sara Lockheart?” Uncle Chase asked looking bewildered.

“No, not Aunt Sara, Chesney’s biological mother, you know the one who left her in the park when she was only a few hours old.”

“Where is Chesney?” Why haven’t your parents come to us for help?”Aunt Cat asked.

“Chesney is at home with Sara, and mom and dad have been trying to think of things to do.” I replied bluntly.

As soon as I said this, they both jumped up. “At your house, she’s trying to take her now?!”

I nodded. “Yeah, Sara is a druggie. She lives in some crap hole apartment with some guy who looks like a killer for hire. I don’t like him and I definitely don’t trust him.”

They were halfway out the door when I caught up with them. We got to my house in what seemed like seconds. Uncle Chase threw the door open and walked in.

“Ma’am I’m going to have to ask you to leave. We don’t know if you even truly are her mother. If you keep pursuing this we’ll take you to the hospital for DNA testing, but as of right now you have no rights to this child. Please leave before I have to make you.” Aunt Cat said. She wasn’t happy. Aunt Cat was the protector of the family. Even more reason why I was starting to believe she was a vampire.

Sara looked pissed off, but she walked to the door anyway, as soon as she left everyone sighed in relief.

Aunt Cat quickly turned on my mother. “Damn it Hope, why didn’t you tell us someone was threatening to take her?!”

Mom turned away from her. “Don’t start on me Catherine! I’m trying everything to keep my daughter safe!”

Mom turned to us. “Kids go upstairs now.”

I really wanted to stay, but Chesney looked near tears. I knew she needed me. What else were big brothers for?”

We all walked upstairs to Chesney’s bedroom. I walked to the window and sat on the floor. The girls sat on the bed and Levi sat on the chair.

“Sissy, if you move out to live with Sara, can I have your room?” Elizabeth asked.

I turned to her. “How dare you even ask that, Liz?” She isn’t leaving us!”

Levi jumped when I yelled.

“I’m sorry Lee; I didn’t mean to startle you.”

He nodded in acknowledgement.

“Chesney, everything will be fine. No one will let that crazy person take you.”

She nodded, but didn’t look me in the eye.

“I just wish I could go live with Uncle Chad and his wife and kids. Do you think they’d let me stay?”

I shrugged. I didn’t know if they would or not.

Sara sure didn't give hesatent to leave. I think she thinks that Aunt Cat is a vampire too.

My friend Cat wants to know what you think of her... Aunt Cat is based off of her........ She was all excited about being in the story.... And she wants comments so I can tell her about it tomorrow

It means she scares people....... and is white......... she doesn't drink blood though......... I dont know if she bites...........
