“Deryck, you know my mom’s downstairs right?”
“Yeah.” We were in my bedroom (without my mom’s permission.) My mom never let me have boys in my room. She even got worried when I had girls in my room. I had went up to my bedroom to “study,” aware of the fact that Deryck was going to climb up to my window. Me and Deryck had been dating for almost a year already. Our moms still didn’t know; they would probably freak out if they did. They figured we were just really close friends. After all, we had known each other since we were six. Now we were thirteen(about to turn 14 soon) and our relationship was growing quite rapidly. We were sitting on my bed (me between his legs) and he was kissing me passionately.
“Deryck, trust me, we should probably stop. I mean, who knows what would happen if she came up and accidentally caught us.” I managed to say between kisses.
Deryck stopped kissing me immediately and looked at me passionately. “Oh come on, you know she could never catch us. You locked your door. How could she possibly come in?”
“I don’t know. Maybe I’m just paranoid.” We began to kiss again. His kisses began to trail off of my lips and onto my neck.
“Mmmmm….Deryck…”
He continued to kiss my neck (this time harder) while all of a sudden we heard a loud pounding on the door.
“Avril, open this door!! I still don’t know why you lock the door when you’re alone and studying. Open up! I have your laundry to put away!”
I jumped (startled) out of Deryck’s grasp. He jumped off the bed and looked at me with a panicked face.
“Just a sec, mom!!”
“Deryck, you have to leave.”
“I know, I know.” He quickly took me in his arms and kissed me hard on the lips.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Ok.” We looked at each other as if in a trance. Then, I watched him as he climbed out of my window and vanished down the block to his house. I took a deep breath and then opened the door. My mom was standing there, looking a bit angered, with a big basket of laundry in her hands.
“Sorry, mom. I was trying on the new clothes you bought me and was undressed when you asked me to open the door.”
“Fine. But next time, don’t leave me here waiting. Tell me these things next time. Don’t leave me standing.”
“Ok, sorry mom.” She entered my room and put the laundry basket down on my bed.
“You can put it away right? I was cooking dinner….don’t want to burn anything.” She smiled at me.
“Yeah, sure mom. Go cook dinner.” She came over to me and kissed me on the forehead.
“You’re such a good daughter. I know I can always trust you.” She patted me gently on the back and then left the room. I closed the door again and locked it. Why did my mom have to trust me? It felt so wrong to lie and hide from her. But, I wasn’t going to give up Deryck. I mean, at least we hadn’t done it yet. Otherwise I would feel really guilty. But we never did anything that crazy. Not yet anyways. We were taking it slow.
I touched the place on my neck where Deryck had been nibbling. I felt a little bit of pain run through my body. I ran to the mirror in my room, confused about what was hurting me. I looked at my neck in the mirror to find a dark hickey directly in the center of my neck. And it wasn’t the only one. I had about three…maybe four. But that was the most visible one.

Oh Great. How will I hide this from my mother??

In this story, neither Deryck or Avril is famous. They both live in Napanee and are the same age. They attend the same school as well. Their parents and siblings are the same as in real life.

lol this seems really similar to my story...but 13?! i agree, that's really young...of course, i had my first boyfriend when i was a few months from turning 12, so i guess i'm not one to talk.
i guess young love means REALLY young love.
