Chapter Three


Aly

I was sitting in the living room on the couch watching the Discovery Channel. The front door opened and Meg and Iz walked in. They were both out of breath and had red faces.

“Aly, if anyone comes to the door for us, we were upstairs the whole time.”

Oh great.

“What did you two do this time?” I asked them.

“We plead the fifth, but if anyone asks we were in our rooms.”

With that they ran upstairs. Not even thirty seconds later the doorbell rang. I walked over to the door and opened it.

“Hello?” I said to the man standing there.

“Did two girls run in here by chance? I didn’t see where they went, but it was somewhere around here.”

Shit, what did they do this time?

“I’m sorry but there aren’t two girls around here. Why are you chasing them anyway?”

“They threw a bottle bomb at my stuff. It all went up in flames. I was going to make their parents pay for the damages, but I think I lost them.”

He left and I shut the door. I ran up to Izzy’s bedroom and walked in.

“Why the HELL did you throw a bottle bomb at that guys stuff?!” I asked them.

“He’s a druggie who sells to kids. He tried to sell some drugs to a little kid, so we torched his goods.” They said in unison.

“I guess that makes it a little better, but don’t do it again.”

I walked back downstairs and screamed when someone tapped me on the shoulder as I was sitting on the couch. I turned around and almost hit the person. That’s when I realized it was Levi.

“Oh, it’s you. Don’t do that to me Lee. You scared the crap out of me!”

His look said he was sorry. I could tell he hadn’t meant to scare me. It’s just he couldn’t say something and make known he was here.

“What do you need buddy?”

“Chesney wanted to move in with Uncle Chad and Aunt Danielle. Her biological mother is trying to get custody. She called mom and told her that Chesney had to be at the hospital tomorrow at one for DNA testing.” He signed to me.

“They can’t take her! She’s not theirs!” I yelled.

“I know, but what are we supposed to do? Her biological mother is a druggie.”

“Well that right there means she isn’t stable. She won’t get her.”
