FanFic Contest "Secret Game" Story 5

It’s the perfect day, the sun is shining with a nice cool breeze that flows through my hair as I ride through the park on my skateboard. I like to ride alone, so that I can see everything around me. I like to watch the birds in the trees, listen to the music that people create, or watch the little children run and play with their friends. Today however, I’m not alone. A group of skater boys have taken over my territory. So for now I just sit and watch. Some days I watch them do their tricks while, others I watch them fall flat on their face. It’s quite entertaining. But today is going be a different kind of day for the skater boys. That being one boy in particular.

It’s the perfect day, the sun is shining with a nice cool breeze that flows through my hair as I sit and watch the skater boys. They practice their tricks, as usual. But one boy appears to be a bit spaced out, as if he’s thinking of something other than himself and his skateboard.

“Geez man, what’s up with you today?” Said one of his friends. “No offence or anything, but your kind of sucking.”

“Sorry, I just can’t seam to focus.” Said the boy. His name was Jake, I think.

A small red convertible car pulls up near the sidewalk of the park. Three very pretty girls get out, each with fruit smoothies in their hand. The boy stops a second to look at them as they glamorously take off their sunglasses as they enter the park.
“Hey! Snap out of it!” One of Jake’s friends yelled. “You almost hit me!”
“I’m sorry guys, I think I’m just gonna take a quick break.” He said.

“Ohmygosh, did you just see the way that guy looked at you?” Said one of the girls to her friends. “Ew, I think he’s crushing on you or something.”
“What do you mean by ‘ew’? The girl replied. “Those guys are pretty hot!”
“Yeah, but their skater boys.” Said the girl, and rolled her eyes. But her exasperated look quickly turned into a smile. “Hey I have an idea, why don’t you go over their and yell at them for looking at you like that.” Said the girl’s friend.
“No, that’s just stupid.” She said.

“C’mon.” Said her other friend. “I know a really cute guy who I could hook you up with….”

The girl paused. To me, the girl seamed desperate. Desperate for a cute guy with high class, not true love.

“Ok, I’ll do it.” She said, and stood up, with her drink in hand. The other girls giggled.

The girl gazed around until she spotted a good target. She saw a boy with his skateboard sitting alone on a park bench.
“I’ll go for that one.” She thought. As she came closer to the bench she tried to look angry.

“Hey! You!” She yelled at the boy. The boy whipped his head around and stood up with his skateboard in hand. The skateboard knocked the girl’s drink over and poured over her sandals.

“Ugh, look what you’ve done.” She said, less angry but more annoyed.
“Oh, I’m so sorry.” The boy said. He pulled out a napkin from his pocket and handed it to the girl. The girl looked at it and threw it on the ground.
“Just forget it.” She said and started to walk away.
“No, wait.” The boy said. “I’m really sorry, I’ve been spacing out all day. What was it that you wanted to say to me?”

“It’s nothing, just I stupid joke my friends wanted me to do.” She said.
“Well, my name is Jake.” He said and smiled. “And you are?”
“None of your business.” The girl said, and turned away.
“Please don’t go, I’d like to make it up to you.” He said a pulled out a piece of paper. He quickly scribbled down his number. “I normally come here every day, but you don’t seam to come here that often, so let me know where we can meet.” He said with a smile.

“Hurry up Alice we only have 15 minutes to get to the ballet studio!” Yelled one of her friends.

“I’ll be there in a sec!” She yelled back and turned to face Jake again.
The girl looked at the piece of paper and laughed. “Um, yeah. You won’t be seeingme here again, I can tell you that much. And I don’t associate myself with losers, sorry.” She said and left. Jake looked at the piece of paper and crumbled it up in his hand. “I’m not a loser.” He told himself. “One day, I’m going to make a name for myself and prove everyone wrong. Just they wait and see.”

Five Years Later

It’s the perfect day, or night, I should say. The moon shines down on the stage and the thousands of screaming fans make me smile.
“Are you ready for the next one?” Jake asked me.
“Yup.” I said with a smile. He held my and as we walked onto the stage together.
“This next song is about someone I met a while ago in my favorite place to hang out. Maybe today she’ll realize that I wasn’t who she thought I was.” Jake said into the microphone. The crowd cheered as Jake began to strum the first couple of notes on his guitar. I held the microphone close to my mouth and began to sing.

A pretty girl named Alice sat alone cleaning tables in an empty diner. She went out to the back to catch some fresh air and take a look at the bright moon. Right behind the diner was a concert stage, so Alice liked to come outside after she was done a watch whoever was performing that particular night. Alice gazed onto the stage. She saw a cute boy playing the guitar, with a pretty girl singing the song aside him. “That guy looks familiar.” She thought. She lifted herself onto a garbage can to get a better view.

Suddenly she realized something. That the same boy onstage the same sweet boy whom she met in the park a few years ago. The same boy she laughed at and called a loser.

“This next song is about someone I met a while ago in my favorite place to hang out. Maybe today she’ll realize that I wasn’t who she thought I was.” He said into the microphone. Alice became shocked. She knew that the song was going to be about her. So she listened and watched him play the song while some other beautiful girl stood on stage and sang the lyrics, while she sat alone one a garbage pail thinking of what she missed out on.
