I really enjoyed it. The book is better, but the film kept me engaged so much, I nearly forgot what was coming up next!

The movie was awesome, and I have seen It twice. People who think its offensive should just not see it. There were 'bout 25 protesters outside the Lowe's thearter in Boston when It came out. No one is forcing them to see it, so why should they make a fuss?

haha, I wrote an essay about that at 3AM a few weeks ago. Let me share:
With the growth of media, ideas are able to be spread quickly. These ideas can be controversial and cause heated debates between people. A recent example of this is The Da Vinci Code. It is said that there are numerous historical, mathematical, and artistically inaccuracies in the movie and the film.
That is true. Or, at least, there are things that don’t make sense. For one, when the flashback was shown when Sophie’s family got killed, it didn’t seem staged. I mean, her father wasn’t even looking at the road. Obviously, someone needs to brush up on the rules of the road. Also, the whole going around and solving a mystery under threat of death didn’t really make sense. Why would Robert Langdon put himself in that danger? A random girl is telling me things, okay. See, he should’ve just hid in the bathroom with his feet up and pretended he was playing hide-and-go-seek. I mean, if you went through something before, as what happened in Angels & Demons, you’d think you’d back away knowing that you nearly died last time. Curiosity killed the cat, though. And why would he drop Vittora for Sophie? Like really. Vittoria was the best love interest ever and you cannot replace her. End of rant, hehe. It didn’t make sense that it was made into such a big deal that if Jesus had a wife and children. I mean, if that was revealed today I’d be like, ‘okay’ and not really be phased by it. If the child was born in the sanctity of marriage, then great! It’d be bad if his descendants turned out to be bastards. Moreover, I don’t see the idea of holding such a fuss over protection and all that stuff. Meh, I’m just an apathetic teenager, what do I know?
There were many “Hollywood Effects” evident in the movie, The Da Vinci Code. It’d make sense, considering that it was a high-budget movie and you can’t really do an action film without effects. Could you imagine silly string instead of fireworks? Yeah, I couldn’t, unless it was the directors’ child doing it, just because silly string is really fun to play with! So, anyways, The Da Vinci Code had some cool effects during the semi-violent parts, but oh! The music that played was always suspenseful, despite the fact they weren’t doing anything. Though, I suppose, a enemy can pop up anywhere.
As I wouldn’t have seen this film if it was not linked to extra credit, I wondered what everybody else’s motivation was to see it. And it’s simple: people want an action film that keeps them glued to their seats in anticipation. The Da Vinci Code delivers this on a silver platter. It may make people feel smart for watching a “historical film” vs. some random, cheaply put together thing that has a whole lot of pyrotechnics. These are the people that are the problem. Some of the population will take it for what it is, fiction, and some will take it as reality and create more prejudices. Which, of course, isn’t fair, but what is? On all films there should be yellow tape on the advertisements that say FICTION: Don’t believe everything that’s said here! That could get extreme, though. We don’t want people believing their worthless if they don’t get a letter inviting them to attend a magic school by the time they’re 12.
So, it depends on the person whether history is distorted or their interest is deepened. The interest could very well be based on stuff that didn’t actually occur in history. After all, it’s so easy to believe everything that’s on TV and the Internet because, well, research isn’t fun. But what if you’re being lied to by hundreds of sources? The horror! That’d be freaky. It’s possible that someone who doesn’t know what Washington did on the Delaware River, who went to see The Da Vinci Code because of all the hype became fascinated with some of the inaccuracies and later looked stuff up and found the stuff he looked up more fascinating. That’s just one case. See, people are different, so it’d make sense that the effect they get from a movie is different. There is no good way to censor the masses and create restrictions and whatnot. Especially with the laws regarding teens - and what’s relevant here - the appropriateness of film viewage. There are mature, immature, and “average” people at each age group so creating rules that apply to everyone is difficult and nearly impossible to get it completely right, but it must be tried. Which it is, whether it’s successful or not, I can’t really judge, but whatever.
Controversy is inevitable, but only we are able to grow and expand due to it. It’s our choice. We can make it a good thing, or we can let it be and continue the vicious cycle and yet again leave the ethical and moral dilemmas to the next generation when we are peacefully six feet under. Jump on the boat. Get under people’s skin. And then, we can finally get the concerns that have ebbed and gushed in us cleansed. The Da Vinci Code is and will be exceedingly controversial, but will you step up and make it not be?

If you read the book first, you can enjoy the movie more.
