Asian films
Anyone here interested in Asian films? I know pretty much everyone is all America this and America that, but let's give some credit to other parts of the world.
Since I'm tired of Hollywood exhausting the same recycled ideas over and over again, and not coming up with any good original ideas, I've been getting into Asian films. Some movies I've been watching lately include:
-Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
-Hero
-House of Flying Daggers
-Memoirs of a Geisha
-The Legend of Zu
-2046
-The Road Home
-Musa
And now that The Banquet is out on DVD, you can bet I'll be adding that one to my collection as well.
Interestingly enough, Zhang Ziyi appears in every one of these movies, since she's pretty much the greatest actress in the world today.

"Running Out Of Time" is a great thriller movie. It really makes you think, plus the storylines are great in it.
"Infernal Affair", now forever be known as the original of "The Departed" (2006 film with Leo DeCaprio and Matt Damon), is a great film as well. If you like The Departed, then trust me when I say that IA is 100 times better.
Sorry that they are all cantonese films. I used to live in Hong Kong, so that's why I only know them.

Does Spirited Away count I doubt it. It's anime... but it is Asian.

Zhang Ziyi is gorgeous.
I havn't seen any of those films yet, but I really wouldn't mind watching Memoirs Of A Geisha.

You guys need to see House of Flying Daggers. Better than Crouching Tiger, in my opinion.
Memoirs was an okay film, but suffered from inaccuracies in telling the story at that point in Japanese history. Also, not just casting Chinese actors to play Japanese characters, but making them have to learn English specifically for this movie wasn't the best idea.

I am obsessed with Asian horror/gore movies, like Oldboy, Ichi the Killer, The Tale of Two Sisters, Battle Royale, etc. Asians really know how to make fucked up movies! And coming from me, that's a good thing!

The Banquet was okay, IMO. I guess it's supposed to be sort of like Hamlet.
I like most of Zhang Ziyi and Jet Li's movies.
It's an older movie, but my favorite one is God of Gamblers I

Definite must see if you haven't.
I'm hoping To view the link you have to Register with Jet Li and Jackie Chan will be good, but who knows lol.

Shinobi: Heart Under Blade is another really good film, and if you can find the movie Azumi anywhere I suggest trying that out too.
On a side note, how do you guys watch these films? With the original language track and subtitles, or with an English dub? I think the English dubs dumb things down and take away from the whole experience, so I watch my movies in their original languages with subtitles.
