Omg omg. I bought it when it came out. And it was AMAZING. And it was even more amazing because my favorite person in the entire world, Eddie Vedder, wrote and performed all of the songs for the soundtrack and it made it even more amazing.
But seriously. It's in my top movies list now. It truly was a great movie. I made my mom watch it with me, and she was reluctant at first, but she later said it was really good too. The scenery was beautiful...the people he met were interesting. And the end was beautiful, but heartbreaking.

The ending was fucking sad. The characters, yes, they were very interesting too. I really like that hippie (is that how it's spelled in English? ) woman. I've got the soundtrack as well .

I LOVED this movie. And I love the story aswell. I just he's overall a fascinating person who had his flaws but was also pretty... admirable. It was really just such an interesting movie. I haven't read the book, but I've got it on hold at the library. A lot of people think he was selfish for it (I've spent the last couple days reading through a comments page where a lot of people really ripped him apart, calling him selfish and saying that anyone who admires him is an idiot) which he was, but isn't everyone? He was pretty naive (well I sound old) but it sounds like his parent's fighting really messed him up in a way, then finding out he was a "bastard" child was the final straw. He was pissed and he had a desire for nature, so look what came out of it. I just think his flaws and tragic mistakes add to the whole thing. It was just such a good movie. Everything that led up to it, too, was REALLY interesting. I mean, travelling the country, meeting loads of new people, it was all just so interesting to watch.
I also don't get how he was schizophrenic. He was young, pissed at his parents, had a desire for adventure, and followed his dreams. He was flawed, did something selfish, and made some tragic mistakes, but I don't see how that equals schizophrenia. He was human. He made some huge mistakes and was fairly screwed up. Aren't we all? I just don't think that alone is reason to hate him. That's life. That's part of being a human being. We aren't perfect creatures and the fact that is showed so much with him, yet he also proved t be so fascinating and in my opinion admirable just adds to the story.
Plus, I mean, that's a pretty goddamn awesome way to die, if I do say so myself.

I'd never want someone I care for to die alone .
All the adventurous stuff - discovering places (and getting lost, too ), meeting new people full of stories and stuff like that - reminded me a lot of Kerouac's On The Road, which is a fucking awesome piece of art, and I loved all of it in this movie.

What's On The Road?
I'm pretty interested in these types of things. You know, travelling, hopping from place to place without a specific destination, meeting people, seeing the country, all that stuff.

It's a classic by Jack Kerouac ( On the Road - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), only it's more city-concentrated, but there are parts in the countryside, etc. as well.
EDIT: Though On The Road is wayyyyy more Carpe Diem than Into The Wild is .
