I'm so excited. And for one reason only, Brenda's back bitches!!!
I cannot believe Shannen Doherty is reprising her role as the ICONIC character Brenda Walsh. I never EVER dreamed this day would come. She left the original show in 1994 and never returned. So this is just unbelievable. And there is so much hype surrounding her and the show.
For now I don't give a rats ass about the new cast, especially Shenae Grimes, she and her buck teeth bug me. Sowwy to all you Degrassi fans out there.
It's all about Brenda! I love Shannen Doherty ever since Charmed, I practicly grew up with her. I was 9 when I began watching it. She's a great actress.
I was too young to watch the original Beverly Hills 90210, but I remember watching the last 3 seasons. And I watched the first season in 2004. I loved it, it's a bit cheesy now compared to all the new shows. But it was absolutely groundbreaking for its time! It's a legendary show, it paved the path for many teenage drama shows such as Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Party of Five, The O.C, One Tree Hill, you name it. I heard a lot about the show growing up. Read about it, it intrigued be for some reason. It lasted 10 seasons from 1990 'til 2000.
Man I'm ecstatic for Brenda's return and to see what she's been up to for the past 14 years! It's been said she's been living in London and is now a succesful theatre actress. She comes back to West Beverly High to direct the schoolplay.
I'm also very excited for the scenes between Brenda and Kelly, since there was a LOT of DRAMA and tension back in the original show especially between Shannen and Jennie Garth.
I heard it was crazy back then. Everyone got sick of her. Shannen got fired, got labeled as the bad girl. She was notorious. And during her run on the show a lot of people hated the character Brenda and even made a "I Hate Brenda" newsletter. Insane.
I love her haha. She said the only reason she returned is for the fans, they made her career she said. And that's extremely sweet. She has already shot scenes and with Jennie and all went well. They're older and mature now and moved on.
She's currently signed on for only 4 episodes, I hope that will change but I wonder what they could do with her character once her purpose is served, the schoolplay.
I'm also curious about Kelly's storyline as it sounds interesting. She is now a guidance counselor at West Beverly High. This is the best part, Kelly's mom and David Silvers dad had a child called Erin "Silver" Silver, she was character in the original show, and Erin is now all grown up and a part of the new generation! It's been cleverly written. Kelly and Erin's mom Jackie has fallen of the wagon again so Erin now lives with Kelly... and there's another surprise. Kelly has a 4 year old son!! But the big question is... who's the daddy? Brandon Walsh or Dylan Dylan McKay? Time will tell.
I really like how Kelly is connected and that her storyline is relevant.
A lot of the old cast members aren't interested in coming back. But I'm sure if the show's a hit they'll come running, plus money talks.
Tori Spelling was also supposed to come back but backed out because she got payed less than Shannen and Jennie. Too bad, but it's been said they're negotiating with her. Which is good cause I like Donna.
The Peach Pit is also back hahaha, now just called The Pit. It's awesome that Joe E. Tata will play the owner Nate again!
Even though I don't care about the new generation (except Erin), I'm really amazed how good the writing seems to be and how for now it's balanced and caters to the old viewers and the new ones.
I have high expectations for the show. I hope it doesn't suck. I like to invest myself in a show.
First episode which is a 2 hour premiere airs next tuesday (on the CW)!!
