Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
8/10
Loud, brash, explosive, reasonably funny, simplistic plot but epic robot-on-robot violence, awesome effects. Everything Transformers is supposed to be. I was all about the cartoon and the toys as a kid - this just made me feel like an overstimulated 7 year old all over again, but with more foul language.
Up!

I'm waiting for the day when Pixar makes a bad movie, because it feels like it has to happen. Their record is FLAWLESS so far. Up! probably appeals to a slightly older audience and may not hold the attention of the preschool crowd as well as Cars or Finding Nemo, but my god if you don't get even a twinge of emotion during this movie you probably don't have a soul.
Across The Universe
9/10
I've seen it a few times but it was on TV today so I watched it. Can we just talk about how much I love this movie? I mean, really, when you think about it, a musical using Beatles songs shouldn't work. But it does and it's awesome and I could watch it all the time.
- i’m not the smart one. i’m not the popular one. i’m simply the ordinary one.
i’m different from you only by my eyes, faded out from all these tears.
i’m different from you by my arms, cut from despair. -
Because of you
i try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
i don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
i'm ashamed of my life because it's empty
Because of you
i am afraid

Another movie I've seen a billion times but watched because it was on TV (IFC had a Canadian movie marathon, this was part). So so so so awesome. Very creatively shot, intriguing characters, and of course Callum Keith Rennie who I kind of have a thing for. Plus an ending full of WTF-ery that still catches me offguard EVERY time.
