Lots of guitar threads round here these days... Yes, they are cool, but guitars are semi-useless in a band without the almighty bass, the king of all instruments! So, basically this is a thread for bandaids bass players... Or for people who like bass... or whatever. It's the "Bass Appreciation Thread!!!"

So, how many people here play bass? Don't you think that it is an awesome instrument? And it also makes you so unique if you can play it well, cos there are only a few bass players avaiable for bands... Everybody's into guitars and drums... Bah!...

I umm..well, at the music store, there was a raffle with options of prizes..you fill out the form and which prize you'd prefer out of electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, drums...and i think others. Well, in my entry i chose bass as my prize if i win! Does that count for anything?

if you can play the guitar, you can pretty much figure out how to play the bass.....

Bass guitar is considered to be the lowest form of guitar playing, because most players just 'ride the bass note' ie. follow the guitar chord bass .... EEEEAAAADDDDGGGG ....

A real good bassist can really make a difference though.
Check out Jeff Ament in 'Jeremy' or Tom Hamilton on 'Sweet Emotion'.

True, true... Although there's a lot of difference btw the instruments, ppl who play the guitar can learn to play the bass much faster.

Hell yeah. Tom Hamilton is great, my 2nd fav. bass player... only loses to colin greenwood from radiohead! Impossible to beat the bass from "i might be wrong" and "the national anthem"...
As you said, a good bassist can really make a difference.

lol thanks for posting static! It's cool that you decided to learn the art of playing bass. if you want any help with it, some good tutorials or any shit like that, just ask me and i'll post the stuff that you're looking for here...

Hey, that's cool! And yup, of course it counts, since this is THE bass appreciation thraed. Anyways, I really hope you win the bass! But you know, maybe you should have chosen the drums, cos they're much more expensive, so you could sell em and buy 3 basses with the money. lol

bowling for soup's bass player is a sexy, sexy man. Any pictures I've seen (and I haven't looked very much or very hard, mind you) he's been hideous in. But when I saw them live...WOOOO!!!

The only one in RHCP with an ounce of talent is John, the guitarist.

Though if any of you happen to get your hands on the rare 'Pearl Jam 95 Tour Video', Flea does an amazing solo version of Neil Young's 'Needle and the Damage Done' on bass.
He can't sing for shit, but it's pretty cool.
It was for Jeff Ament's birthday.
