it's actually a custom wound neck pickup- alnico magnet with oversize pole pieces ... i find it has more snap than the covered tele pickups.
it's a maple body, i liked the grain with that color.
it has 4-way switching so when it's in the "series" position it really sounds nice and fat.
damn i love guitars

Ah ok, yeah, I usually also dislike the covered typical tele neck pickups. Oversized poles and custom wound sounds like a nice pickup.
Complete maple body? Aww, allways wanted so play a Tele like that. Love the sound of that wood. Grain-structure is a bonus too, yeah!
Haha, yeah the old singlecoil vs humbucker discussion, nearly as threatening as the gibson vs fender.
Im totally a Fender guy, but playing mostly hi-gain stuff theres not really a choice except humbuckers. So I stick to guitars like the Telecaster 72 Deluxe or Strats with hotrails.
Damn, we need a REAL guitar thread on bandaids. You know, some thread to discuss which pickup sounds best in the Avrilcaster (Dimarzio Super Distortion? Duncan SH4JB? Dimebucker? Or...the EMG?! ). Or to philosoph about the amps.

I'm only a die hard fan of one thing on guitars: LINE 6 AMPS.
I've got a Line 6 Spider III. Great for anything from generic classic rock to heavy metal. Bluesy, jazzy, and clean tones are rubbish on them, but the more expensive models are great. Line 6 is basically a million amps in one. They create the tones of lots of famous amps throughout the years perfectly, so you don't need to change the equipment to change the sound, or deal with a rack of pedals.
Oh, and I'm a humbucker guy myself (with a coil switch, to turn them into single coils. Duh.)

Im into digital amps myself, through I prefer the Vox Valvetronix. But tested and owned some Line6 stuff too, Pod2, Toneport.
Can't comment about the Blues and Jazz amp models, I strictly use the JCM800 or newer stuff of models.
I also don't use a rack of pedals. Mostly only a booster, if anything.
Damn, we really need a thread.
