Aston Villa make move for Bentley

Bentley started his career at Arsenal
Blackburn boss Paul Ince has revealed that Aston Villa have lodged an offer for midfielder David Bentley.
The England international, 23, did not play in Blackburn's pre-season victory at Macclesfield on Monday because of a calf problem picked up in training.
Bentley has made it clear that he wants to leave Blackburn and has also been linked with Tottenham, who Ince says are yet to make an approach.
"We have had an offer from Aston Villa but I do not want him to go," he said.
"He is injured and he will have a couple of days off and I hope to take him to Germany on Wednesday for our training trip."
Bentley's current deal runs until 2011 and he is expected to cost Blackburn's Premier League rivals in the region of £17m.
"The David Bentley situation will not go away and only time will tell whether he is here in August," added Ince.
"He would have played here if he had not been injured but I know that in football players come and players go."
Ince's first game in charge since he took over at Blackburn resulted in his side beating Macclesfield - the club where he started his managerial career - 2-1, with goals from David Dunn and Paul Gallagher.
Afterwards, Ince also dismissed any move for Tottenham keeper Paul Robinson as part of any deal taking Bentley to White Hart Lane, insisting he wanted to hold on to American stopper Brad Friedel.
"When I came to Blackburn, I said I wanted to keep my best players and Brad Friedel comes into that category," he said. "He is one of the best keepers in the Premier League.
"There is no interest from me in Paul Robinson. As far as I am concerned, I want to keep Brad. I do not want to sell Brad, so why should I want Paul Robinson?"
Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz has also been linked to other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal, but the Paraguayan international says he is happy to stay at Rovers.
