There is a dominant gene and a non dominant one.
For example, brown eyes is a dominant gene. Blue eyes in non-dominant.
If both parents have brown eyes well then there still is a chance that they could give birth to a kid with blue eyes. Depending on your parents genes.
So basically eye colour means nothing.
I could explain this better last year in school, I had to learn it for my final exams and I knew it off by heart but now most of it's gone outta my head

This is correct.
There are two genes for eye color. B, for brown, and b, for blue. You get one from your father, one from your mother.
bb means blue eyes.
Bb means brown.
BB means brown.
Why is this? B is dominant. It covers the b, because it's bigger. Let me liken it to this.
Water is b, the blue trait. Cola is B, the brown trait.
Lets say you have two half glasses of water, bb, and you dump them in the same glass. Looks like water, blue eyes.
If you have a half a glass of water and a half a glass of cola, Bb, and you dump them in the same glass, it looks like cola, brown eyes.
If you have two half glasses of cola BB, and dump them in the same glass, it looks like cola, brown eyes.
This works because blue is a genetic mutation that prevents the production of pigment in eyes. Green eyes are the result of brown coming in at weird depths in the eye, and due to refraction, it looks green. The same can be said for hazel. Some people with blue eyes have brown spots. Genetically, they have brown eyes, because the brown DID come in, just at one spot or two.
The only way your brother can have blue eyes is if both your parents have the Bb gene set, and still it's only a 25 percent chance. Here's a table.
|B |b | <-- Father. (Brown)
B|BB|Bb|
b|Bb|bb| <-- 1/4 chance of blue eyes.
^
|
Mother (Brown)
If your father had the BB gene set and your mother had brown eyes, or blue eyes, for that matter, then your brother would have to have brown eyes.
|B |B |
B|BB|BB|
B|BB|BB|
|B |B |
B|BB|BB|
b|Bb|Bb|
|B |B |
b|Bb|Bb|
b|Bb|Bb|
If your father had the Bb set and your mother had blue eyes, there's a 1/2 chance that your brother would have blue eyes.
|B |b |
b|Bb|bb|
b|Bb|bb|
Do you understand?
I don't pretend to think I'm scatterbrained, but I learned this in 9th grade, 6 years ago, and this is one of the first times I've thought about it since. I may need to reorganize it.

I know I'm late, but I want to say this.
Treat your friends like gold. Treat them like they're the most wonderful things that have ever happened to you, because having no friends is honestly the most awful thing in the world. Don't ever do something that you KNOW could truly upset them, because they don't deserve that. Treat them like the human beings they are, and treat them as your equal. If you wouldn't want it done to you, don't do it to them. That's completely unfair. If you KNOW asking out this guy could not only seriously hurt your friendship, but seriously upset your friend, DON'T do it. You can be happy without always putting yourself first, because if you end up losing your friendship do you really think you're going to be happy?

Guys, the eyes are not the point. I just added that as a difference, even though I know it's completely possible.

Maybe your brother and dad just joked about it because you're difefrent or sth.
My brother has been telling me that I've been adopted since I was little just because of that.

It definitely wasn't a joke. They were purposely talking so I couldn't hear the "half-brother" part. I don't think I'm adopted, I just think that my dad is not my brother's dad.
I don't see why they'd keep this a secret, though.

Josh, we always make fun of my uncle Josh, oddly enough, who doesn't look like any of us, as being an illegitimate child...and we know he's not. It's probably just making fun of him.

I totally agree with you. I really wish if my friend could realise that losing a best friend is the biggest mistake. she found a first boyfriend, so she totally forgot about me.. we used to be together all the time, if I look back, everything I've done in my life has to do with her.. cuz she was always next to me.. now, she's not even texting me or anything. it was a hard period, but I'm over it now. if she doesnt care about me, why should I still care and live in denial.. I wont make the same mistake as she did with me.
