A question for the ones who have red "Empire of the sun"
Hey,
like you can see, I have a question for the ones who have maybe red that book "Empire of the sun" ... It's a question that has to be answered in an essay about the book so hopefully there are some people who have red it who can help me. Besides that, we also have to include quotations from it to proove our answers in the essay and of course that's a bit hard when you have like 350 pages :s Does anyone know a good website with reviews or quotes of English books ? I have already searched with google but I didn't get that many good results ... thanks in advance !

The question is the following :
"Consider the ways that the war robs Jim of his childhood ..."

Anything helpful is welcome !

pff it has been i think 1 or 2 years ago since i read this book for english so i dont really recall it anymore

Well he needed to go in a kamp and he couldnt be a child their really.. and because of the war, Jimmy was alone (not with friends of his age).

I hope this helps a bit.. it has been so long ago that i read this book sorry

Thank you for your help ! any help is welcome like I said, don't worry ^_^ I'm going to try to search some more useful websites later again, but I find it annoying that in every essay that we have to write that we have to use quotations in it to proove our answers. I guess that's how English teachers work

Yeah, I know that I should have red it entirely, I did read it but just not the whole book yet, besides that we had a short time to read that book + with all the homeworks that I get from other subjects slowed me down as well ... I already wrote a lot but I just need some quotes, that's all, that's the main thing

Just skim through it. I don't think enough people have read it, and if they have, by finding quotes they'd just be doing your work for you. You don't need the perfect quote, just something relevant. Take what you have and run with it.

Yeah, I was already on planning that, to just go through the book a bit and of course I don't want people to do that work for me, I wouldn't dare to ask that. The main question that I had was if there are any good websites with book reviews and quotes on it because I hardly find any good websites It's just handy to have some extra information on the book, that's all.
