Britney Spears' behavior has become so wildy erratic that it has caused people to speculate that she's manipulating the media. 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell, who once "really felt for her," now says that while "everyone thinks it's breakdown ... From the kind of stunts she's pulling now, I think she is the puppet master and completely in control." He went on to advise, "If you don't want to get any press attention, just keep your head down, don't drive yourself anywhere and sit in the back of blacked-out limousine."
While doubters like Cowell have a point, recent antics have taken her case to the "next level" of alarm. Stints in rehab are one thing for celebs, but stints in
psych wards are a different story. Rolling Stone features the embattled star on the cover of their March issue, telling a deeply troubling tale of "Britney goes to the mall," which has Spears screaming "F--- these bitches!" to sales clerks and foaming at the mouth during dressing room fits. Perhaps the most affecting part, however, is the 25-year-old's response to a fan who mustered up the courage to ask her for an autograph. "I don't know who you think I am, b----," she responded, "but I'm not that person."

Parents fear for Britney's life
BRITNEY Spears' parents say the pop star's life is at risk after she was released from psychiatric care.
Jamie and Lynne Spears said their daughter's psychiatrist had recommended the singer remain in treatment.
They were "extremely disappointed" to learn she had been released.
"We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk," a statement from the couple said.
Celebrity photographers chased Spears across Los Angeles yesterday after she was unexpectedly released from the hospital where she had been for a mental evaluation.
Spears, who was taken to UCLA Medical Centre by ambulance and under police escort a week ago, left the hospital quietly, slipping out with light security.
No police were needed for the incognito getaway, said Capt Sharyn Buck, commander of the North Hollywood police station, which covers the area of Spears' home.
"There was no media, no paparazzi, and no need for public safety protection," Capt Buck said.
But by late afternoon, a live television feed from a helicopter showed Spears and at least one other person in a black, late-model Mercedes-Benz coupe as they drove around LA trying to evade paparazzi giving chase.
She was pursued to the Beverly Hills Hotel until police arrived to break up the throng and escort her inside.
It was not immediately clear why Spears, who had reportedly been ordered to spend two weeks under evaluation, was released. A hospital spokesman declined to comment, citing patient confidentiality laws.
The move comes one day after court papers were made public containing Lynne Spears' accusations that the Grammy-winning pop star's self-styled manager, Sam Lutfi, had drugged her to try to take control of her life.
Jamie Spears, Britney's estranged father, and lawyer Andrew Wallete have been granted temporary control of her assets, including her house, pending further legal proceedings.
An LA judge has appointed a psychiatrist to determine if Spears is capable of understanding the legal proceedings around her.

Spears' Parents: Daughter 'At Risk'
By ANDREW DALTON – 2 hours ago
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Why was she released? That's the lingering question after Britney Spears was discharged from the hospital Wednesday over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist and against the wishes of her father, who has been named as her conservator.
Jamie and Lynne Spears, in a joint statement given to The Associated Press through their attorney, said they were "extremely disappointed" to learn their daughter had been allowed out.
"We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk," the statement said. "We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."
Jamie Spears on Monday was named conservator of his 26-year-old daughter, and he and attorney Andrew Wallet were made co-conservators of Britney's estate.
A conservatorship is created when a court determines a person can no longer care for his or her own affairs.
Though she arrived at UCLA Medical Center escorted by a caravan of police motorcycles, cars and a helicopter, the singer left without media attention. She spent the day dodging the spotlight as she drove around Los Angeles in a black Mercedes-Benz with an unidentified man.
But photographers soon found her and surrounded the vehicle at each stop. More than 15 people circled the car at one point, shooting still photos and video.
At one point the Mercedes pulled into the Beverly Hills Hotel entrance. Beverly Hills police Sgt. Mark Miner said a "keep the peace" detail was sent to the hotel, a common practice when paparazzi are causing a nuisance.
Spears' release came after a series of legal developments in which her father fought for control of the pop star and her estate, her frequent companion was ordered to stay away from her, and her mother vividly described her daughter's fragile state, drug use and the strange behavior that led to her hospitalization.
The troubled singer was hospitalized Jan. 31. On Monday, Commissioner Reva Goetz ruled that Spears must remain in the conservatorship until at least Feb. 14. Goetz also appointed a physician to evaluate Spears' condition.
On Friday, a court issued a restraining order against Sam Lutfi, the man who's been at Spears' side in recent months. Her mother portrayed him as a Svengali-like figure who held her daughter hostage in her own home, drugged her, took over her finances and controlled the paparazzi who constantly surround her.
As her conservator, Spears' father was granted access to all of his daughter's medical records and authority to determine where Spears lives and whom she sees.
Spears, who is in a child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, was also briefly hospitalized earlier in January after police were called to her home when she refused to return her sons to a Federline bodyguard after a visit.
Spears has since lost all visitation rights to her sons, 1-year-old Jayden James and 2-year-old Sean Preston.
On Wednesday, said Capt. Sharyn Buck, commander of the North Hollywood police station that covers Spears' home area, said a grand theft report was filed with the Los Angeles Police Department, alleging that someone took "miscellaneous items," including a painting and jewelry, from Spears' home. Buck didn't say who filed the report or when.

Britney Spears’ parents worried now she is out of LA hospital
The parents of troubled pop singer Britney Spears, James and Lynne Spears, are worried their daughter’s life may now be in danger after she was released from the Los Angeles hospital she had been admitted to for psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
James and Lynne Spears have said they were "extremely disappointed" that Britney Spears had been let out of the hospital’s immediate care after such a short time.
Britney Spears, who had been in the UCLA Medical Centre since last Thursday, left it accompanied by private security gards, but no police escort.
A statement by James and Lynne Spears voiced the fears: "We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."
It is rumoured that Britney Spears has headed for one of her homes but will be seeking further treatment. Britney Spears's manager, Sam Lufti, had been prevented from contacting or being around her a restraining order, and Lynne Spears had claimed that he had drugged her daughter, cut off her phone lines and called her an "unfit mother." Lynne Spears alleges that Sam Lufti was attempting to control Britney Spears’ life.

Britney Leaves Hospital, Family Scared
Britney Spears left the hospital against recommendations, family expressed fear for her life.
The paparazzi just won’t leave Britney alone.
You’d think a woman hospitalized for her unstable mental condition would be given a break. Yet when Britney was quietly discharged from the UCLA Medical Center yesterday, photographers soon found and overwhelmed her vehicle.
The Associated Press reports that she left without any initial media attention, and spent the day driving around Los Angeles in a black Mercedes-Benz with a man who is yet to be identified. When the paparazzi found her they surrounded her vehicle at every stop.
Britney’s decision to leave was against the recommendation of her psychiatrist as well as her father, who has been named her conservator. Jamie and Lynne Spears released a statement through their attorney that asked for a court order to return Britney to the hospital. “We believe her life is presently at risk,” they said, revealing implications about her mental health and vulnerability that are frightening for friends, family and fans.
Britney Spears has been through quite a lot, folks. Aside from custody battles, restraining orders, and drugs, the media has dominated her life ever since she Did it Again in 2000. The media and paparazzi is the major factor of her well-documented demise, spreading vivid details of her troubles, which at one point her own mother provided.
In the hierarchy of paparazzi, those that hunt Britney must be at the top of the food chain, making a living off of the singer’s misery. It makes one think of an old idiom that proclaimed, “One man’s meat is another man’s poison.”
