Anberlin is a pretty good band. "Paperthin Hymn" is one of the most played songs on my computer. I just can't get over that damn fine guitar work.

So I have a story about them. Well, a couple.

1) When Fall Out Boy's last tour was announced, I made fun of New Jersey and New York kids because their 'stop' on that tour was Bamboozle. They didn't get their own show and fanclub kids got screwed out of a meet & greet. It was Bamboozle or bust if they wanted to catch any of the bands on that tour.

A few months later, karma comes to bite me in the ass. Anberlin announce a cross-Canada tour with Story Of The Year and various other shitty bands. But, I figure, it's Anberlin, I've blown money to see 'em open like five times already, twice for Story Of The Year, I'll do it again.

But no, the Toronto date of said tour? Edgefest II. $40+ for a full-day festival where I only like one band didn't seem worth it to me... so I figured... okay, I'll skip it.

As it gets closer I cave and decide I'll go, should my work schedule permit.

Schedule comes out the Monday before the show, and I'm working 12-5 that day.

So no Anberlin for me. Hmpf.

2) My friends' band (who... are amazing, and have an album coming out and YAY THEM) ADORE Anberlin. Well, they've seemingly moved on to He Is Legend now, but last summer it was ALL about Anberlin. They played them constantly in the rehearsal space and I totally got a drunken ramble from one of them that roughly translates to "They're amazing, we'd rip them off so much but Lane can't sing like him."

So the last time I saw them, which was in October... I ran into Lane as I was heading into the 19+ section for a $7.25 drink (hate that club. Heh). They'd just finished playing and he was like "Did you see Anberlin? THEY'RE AMAZING!" and was so excited. I met them at the merch table after and wanted to go find Lane and bring him and be like, "see this kid? He loves you guys" and embarrass him. Heh.

Never Take Friendship Personal is such a ctachy listenable album. I love it.

Last week, at the Kisschasy concert I went to they were playing Time and Confusion over the loudspeakers before the support band came on and i went crazy and started dancing but no one else knew the song....true story.

I saw them last night at the 9:30 club here in DC, and they kicked ass. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go as nuts as I would've liked because my "date" was kind of holding me back. Oh well, that's a whole nother story...but they worked the crowd and sounded awesome.
