Death Cab For Cutie
Another band that makes you relax if you listen to them. Who else like them? They are similar to Coldplay.

Death Cab for Cutie
I'm surprised no one has started a thread about these guys.
Benjamin Gibbard: vocals, guitar, keyboards
Christopher Walla: guitar, vocals, keyboards, organ
Nicholas Harmer: bass
Jason McGerr: drums
DCFC is seriously good stuff. One of those talented few bands that actually gets better with each record. Gibbard has proven not only as the mastermind of Death Cab, but also with his work in The Postal Service that he is truly a musical genius.
Please discuss Death Cab (and all Ben Gibbard-related projects for that matter) here.

well there's not much more to say aside from they are just amazing. what i love most about this band, as well as bands like Jimmy Eat World and The Shins, is that they got big simply because they make really good music. There's no silyl gimmic, there's no "hotties" in the band for youngins to swoon over. just a bunch of regular dudes who write great music together. it gives me hope for the current state of music.

True (though on the issue of Jimmy Eat World, Futures was a pretty bland album with no real punch if you ask me; other than that their music is golden).
Back to DCFC, I've been following them since the Photo Album days, though at the time I wouldn't have considered them one of my all-time top bands. Then Transatlanticism came along and totally changed my mind. Easily one of the greatest albums of the decade if you ask me.
It's too hard for me to pick any favorite Death Cab songs. They're just all too damn good.

Everyone should listen to Stability. A bit of a long song, but oh so beautiful.

Those guys are awesome. I listen to them a lot at the moment...
I also like Chris Walla's solo album 'Field Manual' and Jason McGerr is one of my favorite drummers!
They're finally coming to Germany in June and I really hope I have chance to see them, but the cities they are playing are still pretty far away...

The new album called Narrow Stairs comes out in May! Can't wait!

No, sadly not. Missed them 2 years ago, but I really want to go this year. And I definitely need some DCFC merch - I love the design of those t-shirts!!
