Grizzly Bear to Appear on The Twilight Saga: New Moon Soundtrack
More and more, it's looking like the The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack will be this fall's Dark Was the Night. We've already heard "Meet Me on the Equinox", Death Cab for Cutie's new song from the teen vampire movie sequel. Director Chris Weitz has said that both Thom Yorke and Bon Iver have written new songs for the movie. And now we can confirm this New York Times report that Grizzly Bear will also pop up on the soundtrack. Will Vampire Weekend be next, or is that just too obvious?
The Times article also mentions that the Killers will be on the soundtrack, which has also been confirmed. New Moon music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas told the Times that the album's tracklist will be finalized and announced tomorrow. I can't believe I'm excited about this!
Patsavas also told the Times why this movie's soundtrack moved away from that of the first Twilight movie, which featured bands like Paramore, Linkin Park, and Collective Soul: "This is a much more somber movie than Twilight. There is a lot of love lost, so the artists that are going to make up the soundtrack reflect that longing-- a lot of acoustic instruments, a lot of a cappella singing. This soundtrack definitely feels a bit more indie than the last one."
The Times mentions that a tour of Hot Topic stores is in the works, featuring soundtrack contributors. Thom Yorke and Grizzly Bear at your local mall, y'all!
We are excited to finally announce ALL the songs that will be on the New Moon Soundtrack!! All of the music is original, and exclusive to the soundtrack.

And Muse and the Killers and Editors! It IS the new Dark Was the Night
Watch Thom Yorke Perform "Reckoner" Live Acoustic at "Age of Stupid" Premiere
A few weeks ago, we told you that Thom Yorke was going to perform at the premiere of the new ecologically-minded film The Age of Stupid on September 21. Well, he did. And someone taped it. Now here it is, Thom Yorke doing the In Rainbows track "Reckoner" all by himself with an acoustic guitar. Stay tuned to the end of the clip for some realistic-but-harsh words from Mr. Yorke about the future of the world's economic development (via At Ease).
3 Strikes for downloaders Radiohead, Blur, Keane push for 'three strikes' downloading rule
Musicians sign motion to push for restricted bandwidth for downloaders
Radiohead's Ed O'Brien, Blur's Dave Rowntree and Keane's Tim Rice-Oxley are among the musicians who have signed up to a motion by the Featured Artists Coalition to support the idea of a 'three strikes' rule for illegal downloaders.
Under the proposed rule, users who persistently illegally download would receive up to three letters with increasing severity, then a sanction on the speed of their internet connection if they continued to do so.
The idea is at odds with the UK government's proposal for new legislation. Yesterday (September 24) Business Secretary Lord Peter Mandelson again outlined his proposal to cut off the connections of persistent file-sharers, saying it would be a "last resort" as an action against copyright infringers.
A message on FAC website, featuredartistscoalition.com following a meeting yesterday (September 24) read: "Our meeting voted overwhelmingly to support a three-strike sanction on those who persistently download illegal files, sanctions to consist of a warning letter, a stronger warning letter and a final sanction of the restriction of the infringer’s bandwidth to a level which would render file-sharing of media files impractical while leaving basic email and web access functional."
The members also voted to support Lily Allen, who was recently campaigning against illegal downloading. The singer stepped away from the debate yesterday.
Yes, you read that right. On DAS tonight, Thom wrote the following:
