And GARETH GATES has the look of the man who realises he’s been rumbled wearing girlfriend SUZANNE MOLE’s Ugg boots – and jacket.
Being a new father is obviously doing funny things to him.

Katy Perry Rocks Out in NYC

Continuing her reign as one of the hottest new female artists, Katy Perry was spotted taking her make of chick rock to a sold out crowd in New York City last night (April 7).
The “Hot N Cold” songstress looked to be having a marvelous date as she rocked out at the Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza sporting a white corset-style minidress.

Proving that she’s not just another pretty girl singer, Katy strapped on a variety of guitars during her set while plus chatting with the crowd within songs.
Later on, Miss Perry was spotted winding down with a stroll around Manhattan, looking sharp in a black and white coat with black stockings and black heels.

Never one to shy away from crazy clothes, Katy Perry turned heads once again this week for her unique fashion sense. The singer was spotted leaving her concert in New York in this technicolour Japanese-print suit from Basso & Brooke's spring '09 collection.

"Katy has been requesting it from our PR for months," Chris Brooke revealed to Grazia. "She wanted to wear it on New Year's Eve but it was always out being used in shoots. In fact she has worn quite a bit of our stuff." It was a bold choice for Katy, who recently chopped off her locks into a sleek bob, but was it the right one? The outfit grabbed our attention for two reasons: it makes a change from those stars who stick to safe old black these credit-crunch days. And it's made by one of our most hotly tipped designer duos, Basso & Brooke. So we thought we'd take a few moments to catch up with British-born Chris Brooke and Brazilian Bruno Basso, partners in business and life, to find out how they came to be dressing the US singer – and some sneaky you'd never know facts about them too!
Hey, Basso & Brooke! How did Katy Perry come to have that suit?
‘Katy has been requesting it from our PR for months,' says Chris Brooke. ‘She wanted to wear it on New Year's Eve but it was always out being used in shoots. In fact she has worn quite a bit of our stuff. She has a unique sense of style. In the end we gave her the sample of the suit. We think she looks brilliant in it.'
So tell us more about the print?
‘The print is a collage of quite iconic Japanese symbols: flora, fauna, it's inspired by the flow of nature. Very organic. There's a few frogs and herbs too. It's a mixture of photos, textures and illustrations,' Bruno Basso reveals.
OK then boys. Tell us a few things about yourselves that even Katy Perry won't know...
1. ‘We are both fine cooks. Food is probably as important. Whenever we go anywhere it is about the gastro-experience. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen.'
2. Our favourite place locally to eat is a pizzeria In Brixton market called Franco Manca. It serves organic neapolitan sourdough pizza and is delicious. (4, Market Row, Electric Lane, Brixton, London.)
3. ‘I wanted to be an accountant when I was a kid,' says Chris. ‘I am obsessed with numbers. Now I use that obsession to consult origami books in Japanese to learn further how to take a flat shape and fit it onto a woman's body. Its all about technique.'
4. ‘We would sum up our fashion philosophy as High-Res-Lo-Fi style,' says Bruno.
5. ‘We have two dogs. Louis is a French Bulldog. Penny is a Griffon Bruxellois.'
6. ‘We are really excited about the launch of our first resort collection. By Christmas all the Grazia girls will be able to sunbathe in Basso & Brooke bikinis.'
Hmmm... will Katy Perry will be performing in them too, we wonder?!

A Singer’s Crossroads, Located Center Stage

Katy Perry’s natural tone is the accusatory second person. Her debut album, “One of the Boys,” released last year on Capitol, is full of pointed barbs aimed at emotionally feckless boys: “You change your mind/like a girl changes clothes,” “I wish I could just turn you on/Put a battery in and make you talk,” “You walk around like you’re oh so debonair/You pull ’em down and there’s really nothing there.”
Pointing fingers is a great way to get attention, but probably not enough to keep it. At least, it’s less reliable then the dim bi-curiosity of Ms. Perry’s breakthrough hit, “I Kissed a Girl,” one of last year’s most inescapable, grating and ingenious songs.
But during the first of three sold-out shows at the Fillmore at Irving Plaza on Monday night, Ms. Perry was at a sort of crossroads — a clearly ascendant pop star who seemed in search of a new direction.
Everything about the show suggested the frictions of growth. The drum riser took up half the small stage, and much of the rest was filled with oversized inflated strawberries and bananas. It all appeared to be designed for a larger stage, which Ms. Perry regularly plays, and left her little room to maneuver. She only seemed to breathe freely when she climbed onto one of the platforms at the side of the stage, singing down to the crowd like a superhero clinging to the side of a tall building.
For most of the night she wore a transfixing, riotous suit of multicolored kimonolike fabric, but for the last two songs she switched to a pink leopard-print leotard with matching tail and became, suddenly, sinuous.
A Bettie Page figure in vintage rompers and firetruck-red lipstick, Ms. Perry initially seemed to be an unlikely pop star when “I Kissed a Girl” caught on. But during the last year she has proved more complex and durable. Here, in her best moments, she suggested Alanis Morissette with at least some understanding of Liza Minnelli and Wendy O. Williams: inflamed, kooky and dangerous.
In the long run the Alanis part may matter most because when not preoccupied with the extramusical accoutrements, Ms. Perry is a talented singer, as heard here on the devastating ballad “Thinking of You,” for which her already negligible band left her alone onstage. (The members wore white suits, all the easier to ignore them.) She played almost all the songs from her album, but only a couple — “Mannequin,” “Hot N Cold” — had as much power.
She filled out her set with a pair of telling covers: Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and a firm, brassy version of “Use Your Love,” her reworking of the Outfield’s “Your Love” that originally appeared on her first single, “Ur So Gay.” Unlike the harangues of her debut, these songs are forceful first-person statements, refreshing affirmations of self.
And Ms. Perry even seemed bored by her old tricks. On “I Kissed a Girl,” which closed her set, she grabbed a huge inflated lipstick tube — meant to represent the “cherry ChapStick” in the song — and jabbed it at the outstretched lips of several young women in the crowd, many done up like Ms. Perry. It felt as if she were passing along her angst. On the way out one audience member could be heard shouting at her friend, “Do you have Katy Perry’s water bottle? No, I do.”

Katy Perry To Hook Up With Calvin Harris?

The I Kissed A Girl singer wants a piece of the Scottish producer…

Calvin Harris has revealed that he may work with Katy Perry – after the singer approached him to work on her next album.
Calvin told BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat: "There are some murmurings about [working with] Katy Perry. But you can never tell with Americans whether it'll happen or not."
He continued: "She sent me a big long email comparing me to Phil Spector which I found incredible, but you've got to laugh haven't you? So that was great and we're possibly doing something."
And it looks like the collaboration might well come to fruition, with the pair even discussing what the sound of the album would be.
Calvin explained: "She wants to do like a fun album, like a dance album but obviously still pop. I kind of fit that bill so I guess that's why she thought of me. It'd be that kind of thing."
After massive success collaborating with Dizzee Rascal on Dance Wiv Me, the producer revealed he has artists lining up to work with him: "There are a bunch of people that I could be doing stuff with," he said. "To be honest probably half of it won't work out because I'm on the road for most of the year now."

And Calvin’s comeback campaign is getting off to a good start – his new single I’m Not Alone is set to enter the top five and possibly number one in the in the singles charts this week
