I happened to meet singer Katy Perry as she was leaving Irving Plaza after doing a concert. As she was exiting through 119 East 15th Street, right off of Irving Place, her assistant told everyone that was waiting for her that the "I Kissed a Girl" singer was not going to sign, but Katy sure didn't disappoint! After she signed for me, I thanked her. "You're welcome," the black-haired singer responded. A few girls asked for a picture w/ her, and just as Katy's assistant said: "No photos!", the songbird granted the girls their wish. A few seconds later, I asked Ms. Perry: "How's Kity Purry?" "She's fine; thank you," she answered. I guess her cat was resting wherever she was staying! Well, the fans and photographers cheered as the Grammy winner got in her escalade before speeding off; talk about a class act! Yep, I must say that she took care of fans and she liked it! Perry along with Dita Von Teese and N.E.R.D. have designed special T-shirts and other garments to help spread the awareness of HIV/AIDS. Once upon a time, Katy Perry woke up in Las Vegas and decided to get hitched. But instead of making the mistake of a quickie wedding, she made the hilarious decision to have a fake quickie wedding with her boyfriend at the time, just to freak out her family. "I was 21. We went to Vegas on a whim and we decided to get fake married. We took all the pictures with the minister, with the fake cake, in the fake chapel and got a fake marriage certificate. We went and bought a wedding dress and a suit at a thrift store, and scanned the pictures and the certificate to my family members, my manager at the time [and] totally freaked the s--- out of them," she tells PopEater of the inspiration behind her new single, "Waking Up in Vegas. Katy says that elaborate scheme was her best joke yet, adding, "It was the most hilarious, stupid prank I've ever pulled. I still have the wedding dress and the certificate.
