Don't Miss Katy on American Idol - May 13!
Tune in to American Idol tomorrow, May 13, 9/8c on Fox to see Katy perform her new single, "Waking Up In Vegas" live!
Singer Katy Perry has joined the league of artists like N.E.R.D and Esteele by designing a signature line for the ‘Fashion against AIDS’ campaign.
The 'I Kissed A Girl ' hitmaker can be seen posing for the campaign in a body suit, featuring a smiley face in heart designed by her.
"I like things that are different, I’m very girly," the New York Daily News quoted Katy as saying.
"It (bodysuit) reminded me of something a teenage girl would wear to a dance class ... and it wasn’t just like, here’s a T-shirt!" she added.
The bodysuit features an abstract pastel print of human insides - heart, kidneys and all - and reads on the back: "It’s what’s on the outside that counts."
"We live in a materialistic world. We live in New York City, so we don’t like to think about the heart and the head - we like to think about labels and designers," Katy added.
Katy hopes that the irony of her slogan will help people to think about the ideals that Fashion Against AIDS intends to promote, which are self-awareness, self-respect and, of course, safe sex.
She declared her line "is about the heart, and about helping and educating people about the fight against AIDS."
"I’m 24, I dress for my age and even a little bit younger. I don’t play it safe and I don’t think I have to play it safe yet," she said.
The line designed by celebrities will be sold in the High Street firm’s Divided departments to help raise HIV/AIDS awareness.
Sweet charity: Katy Perry and Dita Von Teese turn fashion designers for a good cause
They are experts in flirty fun and frivolity, but Dita Von Teese and Katy Perry have both turned their attention to a serious cause.
The burlesque queen and I Kissed A Girl singer are among the stars who tried their hand at fashion design to help battle AIDS.
Chart topper Estelle, Eighties icon Cyndi Lauper and rap group N.E.R.D also got in on the act for high street store H&M.

Here come the girls: Katy Perry and Estelle also designed items for high street label H&M
Dita's offering - a white cropped T-shirt which featured a print of a woman's face - was certainly demure by her standards
Of course, there was a hint of burlesque with bloomers, fishnet stockings and gloves also making an appearance in her photoshoot.
Katy also modelled her creation - a figure-hugging body suit with a smiley face inside a love heart.
American Boy singer Estelle created a T-shirt which featured the words 'Life is too short... have sex... be safe'.
Eighties icon: Cyndi Lauper opted for the slogan 'Girls just wanna have safe sex'
Lauper's slogan 'Girls just wanna have safe sex' is a play on her 1983 anthem Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
N.E.R.D., which features Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, encourage men to use their brain when it comes to safe sex.
Proceeds from the sale of the clothes in the Fashion Against AIDS campaign will go to help HIV and AIDS awareness campaigns.
The range hits H&M stores on May 28.

California Wildfires Force Katy Perry To Cancel Hometown Concert In Santa Barbara
Katy Perry was forced to scrap a concert in her native Santa Barbara on Saturday thanks to the California wildfires devastating the area.
The blaze — which began last Tuesday — has driven more than 30,000 people from their homes in Santa Barbara County in the past week, and it prompted the “I Kissed A Girl” hitmaker to postpone her show at the Santa Barbara Bowl at the last minute.
“What’s most important right now is fighting the fires that threaten my hometown and saving Santa Barbara,” Katy said in statement explaining her decision.
“Naturally, I am very upset, but I understand the circumstances and am counting down the days when we can all be back at the Bowl to celebrate Santa Barbara and experience The Hello Katy Tour Grand Finale! My prayers are with you, Santa Barbara.”
The rescheduled show will take place on August 30.
Katy Perry is considering giving it all up. She's going to give up the fame and fortune and settle down with the man of her dreams and make babies.
Or at least that's what she says she wants to do.
In an interview that will be published in the June Cosmo she said: I'm not in a rush, but last night I was thinking, ‘Is it wrong for me to want to marry soon and have that feeling?’... To me, marriage isn’t about bank accounts and houses; it’s about finding the one you can hitch your hip to and build on each other’s strengths.“
Well there you go, do you really think she'll give it all up? It's hard once you have it, to go back to being just a regular joe schmo.
She also said in the interview, it's her family that keeps her grounded and her sister still kicks her butt to keep her in line. “Angela travels with me everywhere to make sure I’m on time – she’s the one that kick’s my ass!
