Katy Perry ''looks like Rocky'' when she works out because of the exercises she does.
Katy Perry "looks like Rocky" when she is working out.
The 'Waking Up In Vegas' singer takes inspiration from the fictional boxer - played by Sylvester Stallone in the hit film franchise - and skips at home to help her stay trim.
She said: "Jumping rope and swimming will get you in top shape like that. Swimming will get you into shape without hurting anything on your body, but I just don't like to be out in the sun necessarily, so I defer to jump rope. I kind of look like Rocky."
Although the 24-year-old star enjoys exercising, she always makes time to relax and is a big advocate of meditation.
Katy has previously revealed she took boxing lessons when she was younger, but insists it would take a lot to provoke her into using her pugilistic skills outside the ring.
She said: "I'm not a violent person, though I did take boxing lessons from the age of 17. My coach was a Jamaican street fighter, and he once lost an eye in a fight. But I would never fight anyone, unless they wanted to hurt my family."
Pop singer KATY PERRY skips backstage before concerts - to test her outrageous costumes against 'wardrobe malfunctions'.
The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker insists on her jump rope test - because she is scared she might accidentally bare her breasts in the middle of one of her trademark energetic dance routines.
Perry, who has nicknamed her breasts The Twins, has blogged about her pre-show precautions on her Twitter.com page, stating, "Usually I test out an outfit b4 (sic) shows by jumpin’ rope, make sure The Twins r (sic) gonna stay in the holder."
And she reveals she almost had an onstage accident during a gig in Arras, France earlier this month (Jul09): “(When) I didn’t test. (I) almost had a SHOW!”

KATY PERRY brought a burst of colour to a gloomy New York City on Friday (24Jul09) morning, dazzling fans with a spectacular free show.
The actress slipped into a wacky dress decorated with huge fluffy dice to perform a string of her hits live on U.S. TV's The Today Show.
Explaining her costume, the singer told viewers, "I'm a real sucker for a theme. Every day is Hallowe'en for me."
She also revealed to host Matt Lauer she would have been a stylist if she hadn't made it as a singer, adding: "I enjoy so much creating something that will make someone smile when I walk by. You can say so much without saying anything at all."
Outside of the NBC studios, we couldn't tell if we were in Vegas or New York City as Katy Perry rocked the stage at the "Today" show's concert series this morning. No stranger to wild fashion choices, Perry showed up to Rockefeller Center in full Vegas gear. She wore a bright red sequin dress with huge dice accessories while her band wore dollar bill suits in reference to her hit song "Waking Up in Vegas." The stage was lined with all sorts of blow up fruit and sequins to match Katy's colorful style. When asked about her eccentric outfit, Katie said "Every day for me is Halloween. I am a sucker for themes."
After asking the crowd if they wanted to join her for a nap after the show (earlier in the morning, she wrote "Wow this is so exciting being up at five am. I really am so cute and personable and I think this is when my vocals are the BEST! ... not" on her Twitter page), Katy proved how awake she was with a (literally) jumpy performance of "Hot and Cold." She followed with "Waking Up in Vegas" and surprised the crowd when gold streamers launched from the stage as she sang "Shake the glitter off your clothes now."
Despite Katy's glamorous style, she was insistent on doing her own make up in between takes, and she made sure fans could take pictures with her before finishing the concert with "Thinking of You." When the guitar wouldn't fit over the dice on her dress, she said, "Now I feel really stupid. This is a stupid outfit. You can have it afterward."
After performing, Katy poked fun at "Today" host Matt Lauer as she put bunny ears behind him while he was on camera, only to have him return the favor. I'm not sure if she ever got that nap in, but considering how busy she is with a new album, an ongoing tour and multiple magazine cover shoots, it's doubtful. But based on her punchy early morning performance, she certainly earned it.
