Katy Perry performed live as part of the Today show in NYC, and she must’ve sang that “Waking Up in Vegas” song, because her outfit is covered in dice and whatnot.
And how cute is Matt Lauer?
Katy Perry Makes a Dicey Wardrobe Choice
That was the worst headline ever and you all should totally be giving the finger to your monitors. Right. Now. I deserve it. But, it’s Friday and it’s a slow news day, Katy Perry has crazy eyes and I’m only human.
Pictures of Katy Perry this morning — Witness my restraint. I’m not saying that she took a gamble by wearing that atrocious dress and I’m not saying that it looks like crap(s) — performing outside the Today Show studios and admiring some plastic bananas. Katy Perry. Fuzzy dice dress. Bananas. You can draw your own conclusions.
Katy Perry performed her latest hit Waking Up In Vegas for their summer concert series, and although we can appreciate that she's referencing Sin City with sequined dice outfit, but looks like she's also channeling Lady Gaga!
Is there no originality left in Hollywood anymore?
Wearing a red-sequined dress with dice sewn into it (yes that sentence really did just happen), Katy Perry performed on the Today Show in New York earlier this morning. As usual, Katy put on an energetic performance despite the fact she had dice bouncing around all over the place. The I Kissed A Girl singer recently admitted that she has a very special way of testing her bizarre outfits before stepping out on stage. On her Twitter account she confessed:
"Usually I test out an outfit b4 (sic) shows by jumpin' rope, make sure The Twins r (sic) gonna stay in the holder."
In case you hadn’t guessed it already, by saying “The Twins” Katy is actually referring to her breasts. Nice. So, do you think Lady GaGa goes through a similar process before performing?
Pop singer Katy Perry rocked the stage at the "Today" show this morning in a red "dice dress." Check out pictures and videos below...
No stranger to bizarre fashion choices, Perry showed up in her Las Vegas gear: She wore a bright red sequin dress with huge dice, while her band wore dollar bill suits.
When she was asked about her unconventional outfit, Katie said "Every day for me is Halloween. I am a sucker for themes." And when the guitar wouldn't fit over the dice on her dress, she said, "Now I feel really stupid. This is a stupid outfit. You can have it afterward."
The quirky star played a jumpy performance of "Hot and Cold," followed with her hit song "Waking Up in Vegas," before finishing the concert with "Thinking of You."
During the concert, she asked the crowd if they wanted to join her for a nap after the show earlier in the morning, she wrote "Wow this is so exciting being up at five am. I really am so cute and personable and I think this is when my vocals are the BEST! ... Not" on her Twitter page.
After performing, Katy poked fun at "Today" host Matt Lauer as she put bunny ears behind him while he was on camera, only to have him return the favor. I'm not sure if she ever got that nap in, but considering how busy she is with a new album, an ongoing tour and multiple magazine cover shoots, it's doubtful.

Okay so the other day Lady GaGa dressed up in some god awful Kermit The Frog outfit (above).
Now Katy Perry is dressing up in some god dress with a bunch of little dices on it (below).
So now I ask the question, who looks more stupid - Lady GaGa or Katy Perry? I can’t decide.
Katy Perry has attention-grabbing down to a science.
The 24-year-old singer/songwriter ruffled feathers with her 2007 breakthrough Internet single, "Ur So Gay," a tongue-lashing directed at a metrosexual ex that Madonna dubbed one of her favorite songs. The tune launched Perry to instant stardom.
Her bi-curious No. 1 hit "I Kissed a Girl" raised eyebrows, piqued the interest of straight males everywhere and landed Perry on "The O'Reilly Factor."
Katy is in New York getting ready to perform, when she gave an interview saying that she writes based on her life and that she's "been making my own rules since I was 17"
Check out the pictures of Katy giving us the universal finger. Now that's cold!
Rihanna and her BFF, fellow singer Katy Perry, grab dinner together at upscale Chinese restaurant Philippe Chow on the Upper East Side of New York City on Friday night (July 24).
Katy has a concert on Tuesday in the city at Hammerstein Ballroom. Pop punk band Cobra Starship is opening the show, which is completely sold out!
Today, Katy is performing with Brooklyn band Boy Crisis at Agganis Arena in Boston, Mass. Tomorrow, Katy performs with Canadian bands The New Cities and Stereos at Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto, Canada.
Katy Perry was photographed arriving at a downtown hotel for a photo shoot in New York City on Friday (July 24), looking bright and seasonal in a pink butterfly-print dress. The pop star wrote on her Twitter early that morning:
"Wow this is so exciting being up at five am. I really am so cute and personable and I think this is when my vocals are the BEST! … not."
Rising pop star spills the story of 'I Kissed a Girl' before amphitheatre show
What do you do if you're a young woman who dreams of being a sizzling pop star, but your family is so Christian fundamentalist that they refuse to call that popular picnic treat "Deviled Eggs," but rename them "Angel Eggs" instead?
Well, maybe you move out and find a gal-pal who turns you on to the music of Queen. She then kisses you and you like it, so you write a song about it, then wake up to discover you're Katy Perry, you're famous and you're playing the Molson Amphitheatre tonight.
Right now, it's very late on a Friday afternoon in Manhattan and the pseudo-Sapphic glam queen of the music scene is near collapse after a long day of TV shoots, public appearances and press interviews.
But Katy Perry without the visuals is only half of Katy Perry, so the obligatory, if admittedly sleazy, question must be asked.
"What are you wearing?"
She giggles and cooingly describes herself as "wearing the most gorgeous pink dress with gold lamé butterflies. It's soooooo summery!"
But here's a heart-stopper. Her trademark five-inch heels are now a thing of the past.
"I took those suckers off," she sighs with relief. "Now I can really move on stage and I don't look like I'm on a pogo stick, stumbling everywhere and winding up on embarrassing clips that people post on YouTube."
The woman born as Kathryn Elizabeth Hudson in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Oct. 25, 1984 has gone quite a distance from her devout beginnings, but admits that "I'll never be really blasphemous. I kind of just straddle the line between being the sex kitten and Lolita. My faith is still important to me and I guess you could say that, spiritually, I'm still a wanderer."
That journey really started when she was 17 and left home for Los Angeles ("with my parents' blessing," she insists) and from the rush in her voice, it's obvious that step was the most important one in her life.
"You know that feeling of how it was when you first moved out? No rules, no curfew, you could get into major trouble. My perspective really changed."
So did her friends. Especially one girl whom Perry describes as "much cooler than me about music, about life, about everything. She played me a recording of Freddie Mercury singing `Killer Queen.' I still remember it. `Dynamite with a laser beam, guaranteed to blow your mind.' That's what I wanted to be. When she introduced me to that music, it changed my life."
In more ways than one. "Yeah, she really was the `I Kissed a Girl' girl," admits Perry sheepishly, referring to her massive hit last year. "She doesn't know it was her. Well, maybe she will now if she reads this."
Perry had a modest link to showbiz even before her musical career took off; her uncle, Frank Perry, directed such famous films as Last Summer and Mommie Dearest. She says he wrote very supportive letters about her songs and she recalls visiting him in New York "and he took me to a place for lunch where Cindy Crawford was at the next table."
There's much more to Perry than meets the eye, she suggests. "I have a lot to say, but most people don't want to hear it,' she says, a bit sadly. "They want the flirty, jokey me." She also admits she suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and offers evidence: "I lint roll my feet before I get into bed, I organize one corner of my closet really well but leave the rest a wreck and I don't like fingerprints on anything."
Her love life isn't always so tidy – she has an on-again-off again-on-again relationship with Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes – and in that regard she sounds like a classic confused 20-something.
"My life is such a weird life. There's not a lot of normalcy when it comes to dating or stuff. With every relationship, you change so much.
"But I've never regretted anything. I always learn from things. Even if, sometimes, it takes a little getting to know me."
Katy Perry might have rolled a few hard sixes with her record sales over the last year, but her fashion choices have been less lucky... She was certainly dicing (last pun) with style death during her appearance on The Today Show last week.
After raiding fluffy dices from car rear view mirrors across the country, the Hot and Cold singer looked more like a Vegas croupier than bestselling star.
Remember, kids, gambling never pays...
We couldn't be more proud!
Multi-platinum pop songstress Katy Perry just nabbed another number one hit with her latest single, Waking Up In Vegas, her third number one Top 40 song from her debut album, One of the Boys.
There have only been three other artists in the history of the Billboard charts to achieve this honor, which include Ace of Base, Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga.
Congrats!
Katy Perry was recently spotted rocking these adorable Sam Edelman beaded "Gerry" sandals paired with a summery lavender frock and touches of silver. To nab the look for yourself, here's what you'll need:
Oh that Katy Perry is such a joker isn’t she?! Last night as she was leaving a tattoo parlour in New York, she thought she’d show a group of waiting paparazzi her “new tattoo”.Pulling down her top she revealed an ink design displaying the name “Josh Grobin” just above her breast. “I love him so much” she giggled as she showed the new design to the paps.
In case you didn’t know, Katy was rumoured to be dating Josh a few months ago, before she got back with Travis McCoy. So as a pretty obvious practical joke the singer stencilled a fake tattoo onto her chest to fool the photographers.
Thigh slappingly funny, we think you’ll agree. Only problem is “Grobin” is actually spelt “Groban”. Shame.
To see Katy’s REAL new tattoo, Click Here.
And Katy Perry is lucky...because if that had been the real deal...she would've been forever marked with a misspelling.
It's Groban, Katy.
Not Grobin.
The singer spent some time at East Side Ink and faked out photogs with her chest tattoo.
Later, she posted a pic on her twitter page revealing what she really got...a strawberry on her ankle.
Katy Perry got a tat
But not that one. The one on her chest that says “Josh Grobin” (which is misspelled, I’d like to add. The singer, the one she allegedly stated dating in March, spells his last name Groban) is fake.
But she did get ink on the back of her ankle early this morning in the East Village, though it’s not clear what it is she got exactly. Based on how well the fake tat went, it’s probably a dolphin, or should I say “dollfin”, but instead of fins it has wheels and for some reason it’s black and white like a panda.
S.S. Katy Perry Gets a Tattoo
Don’t worry — Katy Perry’s misspelled Josh Groban tattoo is just a fake. This is the actual tattoo she got in Soho on Monday. Hard to tell which one is gayer, isn’t it? The Daily Mail says
On her Twitter page [yesterday] morning… she had written, ‘Thinking about getting my second tattoo tonight! I wanna get a cartoon-ish strawberry to celebrate this amazeballs past 15 months…’
Well, nothing says “amazeballs” quite like a anthromorphized fruit. Or like a good kick square in the puss, but it’s really hard to do it justice with a just needle and ink. I find it’s usually better to go with a steel-toed boot and a lot of blind rage on that one.
Acid-washed denim “playsuit” — and I’m not making that up:
So cute! Katy Perry took to her Twitter so everyone could meet her new favorite friend tattoo!
She's taking name suggestions, too!
How about Mary Berry?!
What would U name Katy's tat?!
