Advertisements: “Waking Up In Vegas” is third No. 1 for Katy Perry Four hit singles, with over 9 million sold
What wakes up in Vegas…couldn’t possibly remain a secret, if it has anything to do with KATY PERRY, the Capitol Records multi-platinum singer-songwriter who has completely captured the fun, the rhythm, the smarts, the look and the sound of our times in her smash debut album ONE OF THE BOYS.
WAKING UP IN VEGAS, the fourth hit single from the album, is this week’s No. 1 most-played record on the mainstream top 40 pop radio stations across the country, an extraordinary feat of late-game staying power for Perry, whose story began, amazingly, a full fourteen months ago with the official release of Katy’s first worldwide No. 1 hit, “I Kissed a Girl.”
With the album’s second single, “Hot N Cold,” also a No. 1 in the format, Perry is only the fourth artist in the history of Billboard’s mainstream top 40 airplay chart to have scored three No. 1s from a debut album: Katy joins Ace of Base, Avril Lavigne and Lady GaGa in this accomplishment.
The public enthusiasm for Perry, her music — and, honestly, everything about her, has continued unabated since her sensational arrival and top 10 album debut: last week, Katy appeared on the popular Rockefeller Center concert series of NBC’s Today show, and on August 8th will fill in as solo host, fittingly, on her pal Ryan Seacrest’s “American Top 40″ weekly radio countdown show.
Katy Perry has also completed taping an episode of MTV’s signature Unplugged series for cablecast this year, and shot a special in-studio performance for Clear Channel Radio’s online Stripped feature. And she continues to dominate the magazine covers of 2009, most recently Billboard, Paper, Seventeen, Cosmopolitan and Complex.
Also in the upper reaches of the national pop chart, Perry is the co-writer of Kelly Clarkson’s current single, “I Do Not Hook Up,” from the No. 1 album, ‘All I Ever Wanted’.

“Waking Up In Vegas” was co-written by Perry with veteran hitmakers Andreas Carlsson and Desmond Child. The track was produced by Greg Wells. Grammy and MTV Video Music Award winner Joseph Kahn directed the video clip, filmed in a two-day Las Vegas shoot co-starring Joel David Moore (Bones, House, Avatar, Grandma’s Boy).
Katy’s first two single releases, the seven-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “I Kissed a Girl” and the No. 1 mainstream top 40 radio hit “Hot N Cold,” are RIAA-certified for triple-platinum sales.
‘One Of The Boys’ also includes the #1 VH1 Countdown ballad hit “Thinking of You” and the pre-album online video blockbuster of late 2007, “Ur So Gay.”
Katy Perry is a Brit Award and MTV Europe Music Award winner, and is also a Grammy Award, MTV Video Music Award and Teen Choice Award nominee. Katy has played 150 shows around the world since she joined the Van’s Warped Tour on June 20, 2008, including 55 sold-out headlining “Hello Katy” concerts.

Katy Perry looks less than purrfect at New York gig
Look at what the cat dragged in... Meow!
I know that Katy Perry doesn't do any harm with her fashion choices, but it's just as well she was wearing a mask with this leopard print catsuit - although a paper bag might have been better.
The singer was performing at the Hammerstein Ballroom as part of the (Red)Nights concert series, where part of the proceeds directly benefits those affected by AIDS in Africa, so we love her really. Maybe she should donate her wardrobe to charity too though...
Packs of club-ready teenage girls shriek and and point and flash toward the balcony. Efron? Pattison? Um, Perez? Not quite. It's Donald Trump, who graces the Apprentice-weaned youths with a delightfully despicable bent-knee wave. Sort of shocking to think about: Katy Perry played the Mercury Lounge in April of last year. Even then--without the inflatable strawberries, army of stylists, infinite supply of Wonder Woman get-ups, and 30-foot-tall glowing-heart backdrop--the maximum-L.A. singer-songwriter acted like an inevitability. At Hammerstein, it was easy to recognize some hair-tossing, finger-pointing rawk moves from way back when. But while her ascent may not be a tremendous shock, her strategic maneuvering around insta-fame's pitfalls is surprising.
Over the last year, Perry cashed-in on shameless slumber party shenanigans while maintaining a semblance of 2k9 wholesomeness; two seats in front of me a mother and daughter enjoyed the show wearing matching "I love Katy Perry" t-shirts. At the height of "I Kissed a Girl" last summer, she was winning over skeptical Warped Tour crowds instead of going for quick-hit headlining gigs; many of those same Warped teens played dress-up and sang along to every word last night. In 2008, she put out an album of deliriously likeable Springfield-meets-Alanis pop with minimal filler and people actually bought it and listened to it. Katy Perry won.
And, watching her play air guitar as if she were headbanging to Brian May in her bedroom during a cover of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now," I'm glad she won. Because for all the opportunistic sex kitten tropes she climbed upon to break in, Perry is not a seductive performer. She's a straight rock 'n' roll goofball. "Rock 'n' roll" because she screams, plays real guitar (even if it obscures her shimmering one-piece), stomps around like a grounded freshman, and isn't afraid to jump chest-first into a crowd of kids wearing nothing but a catsuit (replete with cat tail). "Goofball" because she can't dance for shit but flails around nonetheless, isn't afraid to act out an absurd mini-musical featuring awful-yet-harmless takes of "Please Mr. Postman" and "Build Me Up Buttercup" smack in the middle of her set, and trade licks with a sax player at the end of a song called "Ur So Gay." Consider a few selections from her post-"Kissed" C.V.: two retro-fun music videos that take silly over sexy and a Kelly Clarkson co-write for a song about not hooking up. Cyndi Lauper should be smiling.
But there are only so many songs with the ability to spawn their own chapstick: "Who's excited to kiss a girl one last fucking time?!" The key there, of course, is "fucking"-- a slight admission of frustration from an artist who's now gunning for an album's worth of greatest hits, rather than just one. Still, a lot of people were pumped for that semi-lesbian glam-rock steamroller. Including Perry, who couldn't help but pogo her way through the whole thing even if she really wouldn't mind locking it up for the next decade.
Is Katy Perry Turning Rihanna Out, Hollyweird Style?
Some folks are worried that Rihanna is kickin’ it with the wrong Hollyweird folks, and that she is going to wind up “turned out” like so many young girls that come to Hollyweird.
Katy Perry Throws a Party For Rihanna, Leighton, and Mickey
Rihanna had dinner at Cipriani last night before joining celebrities like Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan at Katy Perry's concert in NYC. Chris Brown was snapped passing by the restaurant, though her rep denied rumors of a reunion after the two after spent the weekend in the same hotel. At the show, Rih danced and sang along to the music as she sat next to Donald and Melania Trump. Katy hosted an afterparty at Club Griffin where the girls posed for pictures with lollipops and Mickey Rourke danced on a table with a blonde. It looks like everyone had a great time as the woman of the hour partied the night away with her famous friends and Bahamas bikini buddy.
Katy Perry and the Katy Perry After Party at Club Griffin, NYC
There’s nothing like a good party, have a bop, make a fool of yourself, get carried home , can’t remember anything the next day, and job done………. and thats on a good night! There are party celebs and there are “party party” celebs and Katy Perry is definetly of the “Party Party” variety we would say Lady GaGa is more of the same and Amy Winehouse is on our London party list..

She performed last night at a NYC Charity gig at the Hammerstein Ballrooms as part of the (Red) Nights concert series where part of the funds raised goes to AIDs victims in Africa. In the audience were Rihanna who had a bop, Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan and none other than Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump.

Things got in full swing with “The After Party” where Mickey Rourke was spotted dancing on a table with a blonde, nothing new there then. Leighton Meester and boyfriend Sebastian Stan were spotted leaving the concert (photo above) and entering the party venue in party mood and gear, along with The Trumps and RiRi who was spotted in her latest fashion item, the see through black top with under garmet accesories if you get our meaning. Man in photo is her personal security. Throw all this into the party mix with Katy Perry and man? in a typically very interesting “number” and this looked to be a party of the “party party” variety!

Katy Perry Parties With Rihanna After New York Show
Last night, a mere week after her high stakes performance on "Today," Katy Perry returned to New York for a sold-out show at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom. She wasn't alone: Cobra Starship opened the show and she was joined on stage by 3OH!3. The crowd was star-studded as well, as Perry welcomed Donald Trump, his wife Melania and Rihanna, who also joined Perry at a party at Manhattan hot spot the Griffin after the concert.
Though Trump didn't make it out to the party, "The Wrestler" star Mickey Rourke was also there. Perry has had an eventful time in New York. Earlier in the week, she headed downtown to get her second tattoo, which ended up being a tiny cartoon strawberry on her ankle. Perry said on her Twitter, "I wanna get a cartoon-ish strawberry to celebrate this amazeballs past 15 months." She also had fun with her Twitter followers when she posted a picture of a fake temporary tattoo of the words "Josh Grobin" (not the misspelling — it's actually "Groban") on her chest.
Perry's tour continues tomorrow night in New Jersey. She'll be in California next week opening up a homecoming show for No Doubt, and from there she'll play her first ever shows in Japan and Australia. Last night was hardly the first time Perry and Rihanna have thrown down together, as the pair hung out on vacation in Barbados and have teased the idea of collaborating in the future. The dominance of her album One of the Boys continues as well: It jumped up 17 places on this week's album chart and has well-surpassed the platinum mark after a stunning 58 weeks since its debut.
When Katy Perry isn’t off kissing girls and liking it, she’s playing dress up instead. Adult costumes aren’t just for Halloween or some nasty night of role-playing anymore; Perry has proven that they can be perfect garb for a concert too. Famous for her wacky sense of style, Perry has — yet again — shocked the masses with the Seven ‘til Midnight Sea Legs Sailor Costume she wore at her world tour in Barcelona. If you like this gal’s fashion sense, then you can pick up this costume right now at Lingerie Diva for only $44.99.
Take an extra step, and buy some inflatables that seem to be an ever-growing part of her entourage. These inflatable animals at The Jungle Store were used for her Blender magazine shoot last winter.
Ray Ban sunglasses are enjoying a bit of a revival this summer and have been spotted on a host of style-savvy celebs, from Beyonce to Katy Perry. Katy Perry in Steve Madden “Banglez” gladiators and acid wash jumpsuit!
Here’s Katy Perry’s cleavage out for a shopping trip Tuesday afternoon. The Fug Girls totally tore this outfit apart, but I’m not ashamed to admit that I would totally wear this jumpsuit. Yes, I would wear a black, acid wash, zipper-up jumpsuit – in an instant. Yeah, that’s right, I’ve got the stones! I’d probably slip a nip, but I’m not famous enough for anyone to care. Free air conditioning!
Katy wore a pair of Steve Madden “Banglez” gladiators with her jumpsuit:
These super chic gladiators feature stylish studding details to add a sparkle to every step you take. I’ve actually been eying these exact shoes in the boutique downtown… I’ve seen knock offs in stores like Spring and Aldo, but it seems as though it’s worth the extra thirty some odd dollars for the Steve Madden model – as much as I’m a fan of cheap knock offs, Steve Madden shoes are often a reasonable price for the quality you receive. Now if only I could find the acid wash jumpsuit! What do you think?
