Sheryl Crow, De La Soul, Katy Perry Kick Off Bumbershoot

“I gotta say, I’m really excited about Katy Perry,” Sheryl Crow gushed briefly about Perry’s Bumbershoot-opening set last night, slyly insinuating the chorus from “I Kissed a Girl” into her own opening number, “A Change Will Do You Good.” Crow, Saturday’s main stage headliner at Seattle’s annual late-summer fest, showed the confident ease of an American rock icon, playing with a five-piece roots-rock band to a small but dedicated crowd. Peter Stroud laid down weepy slide guitar for “Strong Enough,” while fans sang along to “Good Is Good,” and Crow switched from acoustic to electric for “I Can’t Cry Anymore.” She gave the song a fitting introduction: “Seattle has great musicians. Heart’s at the top of my list. I like me some Eddie Vedder.”
Meanwhile, across Seattle Center at the moonlit Fisher Green Stage, De La Soul downloaded a greatest hits playlist from hip-hop’s late Golden Age. Pos and Dave, with Maceo on turntables, were backed by a crack four-piece band, plus horns and percussion, both three-deep. They started sloppy — this live band thing might’ve been a first in 20-some years of De La history — but by the time they hit “Pass the Plugs,” dipping into serious JBs territory, the set was locked. What proceeded from there was hip-hop heaven. “Jenifa Taught Me” sounded like Otis Redding done De La, “Me Myself and I” felt just right, and the core trio shooed the band offstage for a “two MCs, one DJ” version of “Ooh.” Their night-ending, full band version of Gorillaz’ “Feel Good Inc” had the crowd going bananas.
Hours earlier, Katy Perry opened the main stage with an uneven 40-minute set under gloomy early afternoon skies. She didn’t get any sleep the night before, she told a crowd of teenage girls and middle-aged men, and she was determined to get to Bumbershoot on time. Perry’s thighs were the stars of the show, as the rest of her seemed to alternately pogo or sleepwalk through her songs. “Queen is the main reason I do what I do,” she said before trying a cover of their “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “I swear to you they’re my favorite.” She strummed an acoustic guitar during a convincing version of “Thinking of You,” but by the time she got to “I Kissed a Girl,” the crowd seemed mostly over it.
It was a good day for Seattle sons. Past Lives — comprising former Blood Brothers — played ominous, knife-edged post-rock. Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground — former Gatsbys American Dream — regaled with raucous cabaret-pomp pop. But whether it’s the discouraging weather, the lineup, or the economy, attendance is down at Bumbershoot this year.

Katy Perry, 2009 MTV Music Video Awards’ (VMA) Anita and celebrity endorser, will perform live in Manila on October 3, 2009 at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds.All Youth Channels, Inc. and MTV Philippines are behind the concert.
Perry, a very charming and talented young composer, rose to fame in 2007 with her online hit single “Ur So Gay” (a withering kiss-off to a metrosexual ex-boyfriend, a song even Madonna liked a lot).
She eventually scored a breakthrough single with “I Kissed A Girl” in 2008.
“I Kissed A Girl” became an all-time hit, shooting to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 where it stayed for seven straight weeks. It was also a big hit all over Asia like here in the Philippines, and even in the remotest Phi Phi Islands in South Thailand.
“I Kissed A Girl,” the video was nominated for five MTV VMAs, including an award for Perry as Best New Artist.The video also became No. 1 most-viewed item on MySpace.
“I Kissed A Girl” sold more than six million tracks worldwide.
Perry released her first album “One of the Boys” soon after.It includes "Ur So Gay," “I Kissed A Girl” and new hit singles “Hot N Cold” and “Waking Up in Vegas.” The album is described as a “witty romp through Perry’s brightly colored world that showcases the singer songwriter's sharp, candid lyrics, big voice, and feisty, girl-power swagger, as well as her appealing vulnerability in her songs.”
Perry’s upcoming concert in Manila will feature a special performance from international recording artist Boys Like Girls.

Singer Katy Perry has engagement rumors flying after she has been spotted with a ring on her wedding finger. Could Katy and Travis McCoy be engaged? Read more on this story below.

Perry and McCoy split in December of 2008 after arguments over Katy’s touring schedule but they reconciled months later in April of 2009.

The pop star was spotted out in Los Angeles last week wearing a ring on her left hand.

The couple denied emgagement rumours in 2008 after a New York tabloid reported that the Gym Class Heroes frontman had proposed to Perry during a trip to France over the summer (08).

Pop star Katy Perry has sparked rumors she is set to marry her boyfriend Travis McCoy - after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger.

The longterm lovers split in December after a string of arguments over the "Hot N Cold" singer's hectic tour schedule but they reconciled just months later in April.

Now it looks as if the pair could be taking its relationship to the next level after Perry was seen on an evening out in Los Angeles last week sporting a sparkler on her left hand.

The couple was previously forced to deny engagement rumors in 2008 after a New York tabloid reported that the Gym Class Heroes frontman had proposed during a trip to France over the summer.

Who Wore RM by Roland Mouret Better? Amber Rose or Katy Perry

Last week Amber Rose and Kerry Perry unknowingly wore the same RM Edition by Roland Mouret Mona dress on the same day.
Amber wore her coral dress when she went shopping with her boyfriend stylist Kanye West.
The pair shopped at Intermix and other boutiques on Rodeo Drive.
We usually see Amber wearing spandex, or something quite distasteful but this fits in neither category.
The blonde bombshell wore her dress with large gold bangles, gold framed sunglass and gold trimmed strappy sandals.
Later that same day Katy Perry was seen arriving at the Chateau Marmont in LA, following her guest judge stint on American Idol wearing the same dress.
Her dress looks pink, but I wouldn’t be surprised if her dress was actually the same colour as Amber’s due to the harsh flash light from the paparazzi camera.
Both women looks outstanding in this dress, Mr Mouret really knows how to cut a dress to flatter the female form.
Amber wins for me as I love her gold accessories, which gives her look an exotic flavour.

PERRY'S WIDE AWAKE CAR JOURNEYS

KATY PERRY is terrified of sleeping as she travels in a car - after cheating death in a horror crash when the driver dozed off at the wheel.


The I Kissed A Girl hitmaker was involved in a frightening road accident when she was 13, as a vehicle she was a passenger in flipped onto its roof.
It later emerged a motorist had fallen asleep - and the singer is now obsessed with staying awake during car journeys to make sure the driver keeps concentrating on the road.
After a four-hour ride to Seattle, Washington on Saturday (05Sep09), she told followers of her Twitter.com blog, "Would have liked 2 have slept in car like every1 (sic) else, but since person fell asleep @ wheel when I was 13 & rolled car, no sleep in cars. Damn."

Katy Perry kissed a boy...and now she's engaged!


Katy Perry has been spotted wearing a big old rock on her wedding finger, fuelling rumours that, despite her girl-snogging antics of old, she's actually engaged.
This isn't the first time Katy and boyfriend, Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy have faced engagement rumours. Back in 2008, the pair had to deny that they were engaged, although she thanked the press for the free publicity.
The pair split up at the end of last year, but got back together a couple of months ago, so maybe Travis was trying to seal the deal...
