Katy Perry- The new face of Proactiv

The idea that our superstars and pin-ups are the pinnacle of beauty has perpetuated society long enough. Forget about idealizing the smooth contours of Uma Thurman’s cheeks or Miley Cyrus’s skin, the savvier amongst you will have realized that they look so good because of some deftly applied airbrushing. It’s refreshing then when stars such as Katy Perry are able to go on record with less than flawless complexions, making the rest of us aware that the standards we aspire to aren’t quite so far away.
The gorgeous Katy Perry is happy to admit that she suffers from breakouts, and rather than cover up her zits with a huge hat, she has proudly gone on record as the face of Proactiv, a skincare brand designed especially for those with spotty skin.
She’s not the first celebrity to become the face of this brand, as she’s joining the ranks of Jessica Simpson and Vanessa Williams who were both breakout prone in their younger days.
Katy Perry, the soon to be ‘Mrs Russell Brand‘ will be appearing in three commercials for the brand this year, as well as acting as its ambassador at relevant events.
Proactiv aims to differentiate itself from other acne brands on the market through use of celebrity mastheads, and they’re happy to use stars who actually USE their products as this gives them more credibility.
“In the face of that competition, we needed to elevate the brand and reposition ourselves,” says a Proactiv spokesman. “We are definitely reintroducing big celebrities again, and we are coupling it with a slight difference in the conversation where we view acne as the enemy, and the best way to fight acne is with Proactiv.”
The key ingredient is benzoyl peroxide — which has been refined into microcrystals designed to quickly enter pores.
The Katy Perry campaign will start in the next few weeks.

Back To The Day Job: Katy Perry Wows The Crowds In Las Vegas…

Over the weekend Katy Perry got back to doing what she does best, and no, we mean - pretending she hasn’t noticed the paps whilst simultaneously snogging the face off her fiancé - although she is pretty good at that as well.After answering phones at the Haiti telethon on Friday night and a shopping trip around furniture stores on Saturday afternoon, Katy flew from Los Angeles to Last Vegas to perform at Haze nightclub at the Aria Resort.
The I Kissed A Girl singer was wearing a skin-tight dress, a pair of killer heels and her new engagement ring stayed firmly put (take note Cheryl Cole!) as she strutted her stuff and pulled several fans out of the crowd to join her on stage.

Our sister site, Shoeperwoman, spotted Katy Perry wearing Dolce & Gabbana’s crystal studded pumps as she hosted the Waking Up in Vegas party at Haze Nightclub this week. Katy wore the shoes with a very shiny mini dress complete with handkerchief hem and cowl beck. Shoes aside, this reminds us of the kind of things girls used to wear to go clubbing in the 90s, but that could just be us, of course: what do you think?

Girls usually like to hang with other girls who are uglier than they are so that they get all the male attention and don’t have to deal with jealousy, as they can always look at their circle and say “At least I’m not her” or “At least I am skinner than her”, and I guess Katy Perry is just like all other girls cuz here she is with her ugly friend. I usually call these girls that Fat Managers, because they usually get in the way of me fucking the hot one when I meet them at bars, because it always happens to be the day the fat one decides she wants attention and since the hot one wants nothing to do with me, the fat one usually gets what she wants, not that it matters….I take what I can get and apparently so does Russell Brand, despite being a total useless bullshit homo cunt, he could do a hell of a lot better than Katy Perry with some groupie pussy, since I seem to be the only person who hates him and his bullshit, but I guess their union brings us hope…hope that the plane will crash, the house will burn down, the car will drive off the road and into oncoming traffic, because if they are always together, tragedy can kill two birds with one stone.. Tonight's 'American Idol' Auditions: Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne in Los Angeles

Tonight's American Idol auditions will be in its backyard: Los Angeles. I guess that means you don't exactly give golden tickets, but more of golden bus passes. The judges don't say "you're going to Hollywood!" with such gusto. Maybe "you're going over there!" followed by a finger pointing towards where the Hollywood rounds will be aired. But that's just me nitpicking.

Los Angeles, as we all know, is home to a lot of Idol's biggest names: Katharine McPhee, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, and surely I'm missing a few names. Still, I find it a bit odd nobody who auditioned in Los Angeles made it quite big. The three names I mentioned auditioned in San Francisco. Oh, does anybody remember if William Hung did it in LA? I think so, right? There goes your big name. Not that it's a big deal, really. I just wanted to point that out.

Tonight's guest judges are two big names in pop music. One of them had me jumping around a decade or so back. The other didn't, because at my age I shouldn't be jumping around unless I want to look ridiculous.

The first name I was referring to: Avril Lavigne, that Canadian pop-punker who wondered why we have to make things so complicated, tried to make her skater boy boyfriend's ex-girlfriend jealous, and begged some guys to be her boyfriend. She became big, of course, with her 2002 debut Let Go, which made her the biggest-selling artist of that year, and earned her eight Grammy nominations. And then there was 2004's Under My Skin, and 2006's The Best Damn Thing, both of which were also hits in their own right. She's currently working on her fourth album, although we'll surely hear from her again when Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland rolls around: she's doing the theme song. Oh, and she also co-wrote Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway".

The second name's a more recent one: Katy Perry, she who kissed a girl and liked it, only to break many men's hearts (mine included) when she announced her engagement to British comedian Russell Brand. She started her career at the same time as Avril, but it took a while for her to make it big--Columbia Records dropped her before she could release an album in 2004. She did make it big, from the viral hit "Ur So Gay" in 2007 to her first album, One of the Boys, the following year, giving us earworms like "I Kissed A Girl" and "Waking Up In Vegas", as well as her distinctive style and surprisingly good vocals. She was nominated for a Grammy (and lost), recently released a live album, and is working on her second album.

We're not going to see much of these two, however--imagine sharing one hour together with Simon, Kara and Randy, and many, many Idol wannabes. Fingers crossed those wannabes won't disappoint. I don't want humiliations. And I don't want to be bored, like last week...

Katy Perry and Russell Brand Celebrate Engagement

Katy Perry and her soon to be hubby Russell Brand recently made their way back to Los Angeles where they celebrated the great news of their impending marriage with 50 of their closest family and friends. The couple threw an engagement party at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills last week. The singer’s mom, Mary Hudson, was seen sipping on cocktails and the crowd enjoyed a beautiful cake in a room decorated with red roses and candles. Who knew that the comedian was such a romantic? First, his elaborate proposal in India, and now this beautiful party. Most guys would actually shy away from these things but apparently not Russell.
