Katy Perry's Date Night Tips: Act Like You're on the Red Carpet

Newly Single Katy Perry Offers Sexy Photo Tips
She's cut her hair, posed provocatively for FHM magazine and looks better than ever since her recent separation from "Gym Class Heroes" star Travis McCoy, so it is no wonder Katy Perry certainly wasn't holding back when it came to offering her female fans some of Tinseltown tips on how to always look sexy in snaps.
"I'm really critical of my posture, it makes a big difference," Perry told Tarts at Thursday night's Critics Choice Awards in Santa Monica, Calif. "And I try to suck my belly in. Everyone should do that whether you’re on a red carpet or not. Even if you’re just going out to dinner with your boyfriend you should try and suck it in."
Perry presented the award for Best Composer alongside Christopher "McLovin'’" Mintz-Plasse and we're assuming he was probably pretty pleased after their little get together.
"Oh, he's going to get a little pinch on the butt before we go on stage," Katy said, after a mini freak-out upon hearing that Angelina Jolie would be in the audience.
Christopher told Tarts backstage that he was sure that he and Miss Perry would become close friends as they shared a very important commonality.
"I've kissed a lot of girls too," he said.
Amanda Bynes Gets Bratty
But speaking of the awards, Tarts has also been told that Amanda Bynes showed a not-so-nice side during last week’s ceremony. According to our insider, the "Hairspray" hottie proceeded to text pretty much the entire time and even when Heath Ledger won the posthumous award for Best Actor she was the only one not to join in with the standing ovation.
"She just sat there on her phone, totally disinterested and one of the guys next to her forced her to stand up," said our spy, adding that she rolled her eyes and eventually stood up in a huff. Manners, anyone?
Hollywood Claws Come Out At Golden Globes After-Party
The HBO after-party was the place to be after the Golden Globes on Sunday night and clearly the hit network wasn't ready to handle the hundreds of Hollywood types.
With a line stretching out the door, the average wait was a good 90 minutes and the chorus of "Don't you know who I am" brought out the claws between Hollywood's "elite," the fire marshals, event organizers and security.
(Picture a whole heap of publicists, reporters, studio executives and stars who have probably forgotten what it means to wait it line and you can just imagine the tempers and tantrums.)
Even those in HBO shows like "True Blood" and "Entourage" weren't given special treatment and were made practice patience and were not allowed in until those before them had left. But once inside, it was well worth the wait.
Pop Tarts spotted the normally super-sweet Blake Lively scurrying to get out of the venue and expressing just how very upset she was about having to wait a whopping two hours for her driver (welcome to L.A and street closures). Leonardo DiCaprio was holding hands with his mama (while checking himself out in the reflection) while Hayden Panettiere was on her best behavior while hanging out with her folks.
The night was a dream come true for itty bitty beauty Megan Fox who partied alongside the guy she once told Tarts was her ultimate crush - Zac Efron (unfortunately for her, Vanessa Hudgens wasn't too far away). Meanwhile other big names such as Susan Sarandon, Drew Barrymore, Heidi Klum & Seal sat around and noshed until the early hours.
And even though Colin Farrell went home with the Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, the reformed rehabber didn't celebrate too hard.
"Oh man, three years ago I would have done some serious damage here," Farrell lamented as he approached the Grey Goose bar backstage in the E! lounge.
Jason Segal Bumped By Heidi & Spencer
Picture this - you’re talented, you’re on a hit show, you’re respected in the entertainment industry… but it all falls apart when cringe-worthy "The Hills" stars invade your aura. Unfortunately for Jason Segal, that’s what happened to him when Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt made a recent guest appearance on "How I Met Your Mother."
"That was an interesting day. It was one of those weird days when security was at the door - it was the same way when Britney was on the show," Segall told Tarts at Diane Lane’s post-party for the Critics Choice Awards. "People were asking me, what are you doing here? So I had to explain how I work here too." Ouch.
Speaking of Jasons, we’re holding former "Seinfeld" star Jason Alexander to his New Years resolution.
"This is going to be so bad. I'll be 50 in September and I have to lose 30 lbs before then. 9 months, 30 pounds," he admitted. "Don’t show a before an after. If I don't make it, don't write about this. I don’t want to be embarrassed."
"Katy Perry's Advice To Attracting Men: Suck Your Belly In" "Katy Perry Says 'Suck It In' Ladies!" "Katy Perry Sucks In Her Belly To Look More Attractive" "Katy Perry reveals the secret to looking sexy in photos"
Katy Perry says the key to attracting men is "sucking your belly in." The "I Kissed A Girl" singer has offered women advice on how to look their best at all times, and claims good posture is very important when trying to impress members of the opposite sex.
She said: "I'm really critical of my posture, it makes a big difference. And I try to suck my belly in. Everyone should do that whether you're on a red carpet or not. Even if you're just going out to dinner with your boyfriend you should try and suck it in."
Katy is on the look-out for a new love after splitting from her boyfriend-of-two-years, Gym Class Heroes star Travis McCoy.
It has been claimed the pair decided to go their separate ways after months of bitter arguments.
A source said: "It's sad, but they were fighting a lot in recent months because they never saw each other."
"When somebody becomes very famous very quickly their relationship usually suffers. She's going through such a huge time at the moment so needs to be on her own."
Katy Perry let all her emotions hang out during an accoustic set at L.A.'s Hotel Cafe Monday night.
"It hurts right now," said the singer of her recent split with boyfriend Travis McCoy.
"When you breakup with someone you move on," she said softly. "You don't really want to move on ... but you have to because they don't give you any choice," she added before forcing herself to declare, "But I'm over it!"
Despite battling a bad case of the flu, Perry, who promised the crowd that she'd be healthy again for her tour starting Jan. 23, performed tunes laced in heartbreak and yearning including her hit "Hot 'N' Cold" and a cover of Sam Sparro's "Black and Gold."
Though she constantly looked to her friends, who were sitting just below the stage, for support, she kept a smile on her face and cracked jokes between songs.
Katy Perry on Split From Beau: "It Hurts Right Now"
Katy Perry is hurting.
The typically perky pop princess didn’t hide her feelings about her split from boyfriend Travis McCoy during an acoustic performance last night at L.A.'s Hotel Café.
Katy came clean while explaining the inspiration for her new single, "Thinking of You."
“It means a lot to me,” Perry said of the song. “It's one of those slit your wrists songs, like one of those R. Kelly songs like 'Real Talk.' Like when you break up with somebody and you don't wanna move on, but you have to move on."
She continued: "And sometimes you find yourself making out with somebody else and you feel like you're cheating. But you're not cheating because you're broken up. And I know being a girl, I've had sex with a guy, and been thinking about a different guy the whole time. That's 'Real Talk.' And even though you're broken up, it still feels like cheating. And it hurts right now."
Perry and McCoy, the lead singer of Gym Class Heroes, called it quits just before New Year's after dating for about a year.
Perry, who went on with the show despite suffering from a nasty cold, also performed a heartfelt tune that included the lyrics, “You know I loved you, you know I loved you, you know I loved you. Someday I wanna be a missus, but it's not yet quite right."
She then likened men to artichokes. “Leafy on the outside,” Perry said, “and after a lot of leaves are pulled, maybe there’s a heart.”
After the show, Perry told us she can’t help but open up on stage.
"Anytime I do music, I do it all from the heart,” she said. “I don't hold back."
Though she’s used to playing larger venues and arenas, thanks to her overwhelming success in 2008, Katy Perry was spotted on her way out of a gig at the intimate Hotel Café in West Hollywood last night (January 12).
The “Hot N Cold” songstress looked fun and flirty in an embellished chiffon babydoll dress as she passed by the paparazzi, doing her best to ignore the shutterbugs.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with FOX Pop Tarts, Miss Perry came clean about how she looks so slim for the camera - she sucks in her stomach!
She revealed, “I’m really critical of my posture, it makes a big difference. And I try to suck my belly in. Everyone should do that whether you’re on a red carpet or not. Even if you’re just going out to dinner with your boyfriend, you should try and suck it in.”
An Idolator P.S.A.: Alphabeat Is Off The Katy Perry Tour
The Danish popsters Alphabeat were one of 2008's bright spots and one of the acts this site championed, so it wouldn't be a big surprise that a few of us kicked around the idea of purchasing tickets to see decided Idolator non-fave Katy Perry, who was taking the band on tour with her. While it probably would have been worth the 12 bucks the University of Arizona was charging to catch six Alphabeat songs and take an early trip home, I'm glad I didn't turn over my credit card number just yet: An e-mail to me from their UK manager informed me that the band has canceled those dates. Disappointing, but I'm glad to know that the band is instead working on their second album and will be heading to the States later in the year. If you bought Katy Perry tickets like I almost did, I'm sorry. So, so sorry.
new katy perry blog!
o my post tonight started very melancholy. The usual. Mostly just a pity party I suppose. We all throw them… no one ever comes though, especially mine! I have the wonderful world at my finger tips and nothing has made me smile much in the past couple days besides the above. Oh my, thedailykitten.com. It’s better than drugs. It works. When ever you need a pep me up… you can always count on thedailykitten.com. See I have been fighting a nasty bitch of a bitch named flu. That bitch has gotsta go. I made sure she was making a short visit. I cancelled lots of wonderful things that I really wanted to be apart of and sweated it out with the bitch for two whole days (which are like weeks when you don’t have many these days) in between the sheets. No shower, just sweat and sleep. Oh man, open a window after those fights for sure. I even think Kitty got sick. Well after echinacea, apple cider vinegar, zpacks, sudafed and finally as a last resort some shots in my bum, via needle (get it outta the gutter!) I think I might be in swell shape for tomorrow. Tomorrow I get to go back to Hotel Cafe… and just play. I might be a little rusty… but believe you me… I tried everything to get this bitch named flu out. Anyway, I know who ever is coming will help me sing… some songs you won’t know, but that’s okay, it’s fun for me. No new stuff just yet. But believe me, pandoras box is waiting. Anyway, the point of this rant is that the simplest things in life are free and are there to make you smile. Sure, they scratch up your new french love seat or make YOU do the job of cutting off the dingle berries from their ass after realizing maybe the expensive solid gold tuna fish upgrade is really just giving her the runs… at the end of it all. The simple things in life curl up in a ball next to you neck and purr until you purr yourself away as well, and shit, that’s all you need. On a side note, I heard the best “rumor” about an old Mariah Carey rider. (the list of things artists requires when putting on a show) I heard that at one point she requested kittens and puppies backstage to cuddle with before every show. Well, she’s fucking smart.

Katy Perry Considering Acting
Katy Perry kissed a girl, liked it, and sky rocketed to fame. The world is her oyster now and the word "can't" is not in her vocabulary. So what's next for Perry?
Hollyscoop caught up with the songstress at the 14th Annual Critics Choice Awards on Thursday where she confessed she would happily make the transition from singer to actress, if the right role came along.
"I would if it's right, I'll do everything if it's right," Katy told Hollyscoop.com exclusively. "I'm not just going to do it because I had a good year, or something like that, it has to speak to me. I'll definitely put my blood, sweat and tears into whatever I do, and that takes a lot out of me."
Considering the fact that she was in the company of some of the most talented actors/actresses last night, we got her thoughts on what movies she thinks will take home the most awards this season.
"Obviously Brad Pitt and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button kind of took the big cake. I didn't actually watch a lot of movies this year, because I've been going going going gone, but I did see Kite Runner and Slumdog Millionaire. They're all great movies, movies that I would watch again."
She added, "I can't wait to see Milk, I haven’t seen it yet, I haven’t even seen Twilight. I don’t know where I live, probably under a rock or something like that," she joked.
If Katy's acting abilities are going to be nearly as good as her singing, maybe we'll see her at the Critics Choice Awards in the next few years accepting an award, instead of talking about other actors movies.
What are your thoughts on singers making the transition into acting? Jennifer Hudson did it and scored an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Think Katy has what it takes?

t’s Pop Week here at MTV News, and that means we’re catching up with and getting to know everyone who’s going to make a splash in pop music and culture over the next 12 months. Whether they’re just arriving on the scene or are already the name on everyone’s lips, these are the artists we expect big things from in 2009. It’s a new year and you, Female Pop MVPKaty Perry, have so much going on for you (tour, Grammys, etc.) — especially now that you’re a single pop star.
Oh, wait, you don’t want to talk about that whole breakup with Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy. Oh, well, can you give us something about it? Because, really, this breaks our heart as much as it breaks yours.
“Well, it’s a new year, and I’m very focused,” she told MTV News on the red carpet of the Critics’ Choice Awards.
Yeah, yeah, we said that already — but what about you and Travis? What went wrong?
“I have a tour coming up on January 23 called the Hello Katy Tour, and I’m putting all my energy and efforts into that.”
Oh, that’s cool, you have a tour coming up. That should be fun — but have you spoken to Travis lately? How’s he doing?
“I really don’t know how you follow [2008] up. I’m kind of just putting one step in front of the other, and I never expected any of it to happen, so I don’t expect it to always happen perfect every time, you know?”
Yeah, 2008 was a big year for you. “I Kissed a Girl,” blah, blah, blah — but are you working on any Travis songs? Will we see that on your next record?
“I’m constantly knocking on wood and freaking out, saying, ‘Really? They want me to do that?!? OK! Really? Presenting at the Critics’ Choice Awards? Great!’ Or at the Grammys, which, by golly, is going to be a fun, fun night.”
Yeah, the Grammys. I bet they’ll be a blast — but will it be hard not having Travis by your side? Do you know who you’re going to bring instead?
“Fruit.”
Oh. So I guess we’re not going to talk about Travis then …
