Katy Perry had a great 2008, now she's poised for an even better 2009. The pop singer has topped the charts for months, and now she prepares for her new tour, and a job hosting the Grammys.
Katy's famous song I Kissed A Girl is nominated for Best Pop Female Vocal at this year's Grammys. Perry told OK she knows why.
"It's a catchy little number and most people are in on the joke," she said. "So maybe that's why it's such a hit - it's every girl's unspoken wish, spoken."
The 24 year old Katy expressed real gratitude about being nominated for such an honor.
"The Grammys are something you dream about when first start singing," she said. "You see people accept their awards, bawling their eyes out, and it sticks with you."
Although Katy wouldn't specifically say what outfit she'd don for the Grammys, she did indicate it would be fun.
"I don't know yet, but you can expect it to be fun, colorful, and happy!"
The US singer revealed she had lessons in the contact sport when she was a teenager.
Katy said: "I'm not a violent person, though I did take boxing lessons from the age of 17. My coach was a Jamaican street fighter, and he once lost an eye in a fight. It gives him character.
"I cannot skip to save my life, but that's what I do to keep in shape."
Despite Katy's skills in the boxing ring, she insists she wouldn't resort to violence unless someone threatened her loved ones.
She added: "But I would never fight anyone, unless they wanted to hurt my family."
Katy isn't the only celebrity who boxes to keep in shape.

She said: "I'm doing some boxing and weights - I want to be totally back in shape."Matt Damon took up boxing in a bid to lose weight after piling on the pounds for his movie 'The Informant'.
He said: "If you put it on, it's easier to get it back off. I'm just boxing. I figure if you get hit enough times, it will fall off!"
GRAMMYs 2009 Update: Arjan interviews Duffy, Katy Perry and Jason Mraz in the GRAMMY Media Room
Yesterday afternoon, I went up to the media room at the Staples Center where artists and other celebs where doing media interview with radio stations. While walking around I caught GRAMMY nominees Duffy, Katy Perry and Jason Mraz when they walked from one interview appointment to the next. The result are some candid, quick moments with each of them. (Sidenote: Duffy is such a doll, and Mraz is just so cool.)
'My preacher mother dated Jimi Hendrix before finding God,' claims Katy Perry
Katy Perry's religious parents may have been outraged by her hit track I Kissed A Girl, but it seems they weren't always quite so conservative.
The 24-year-old singer claimed the couple, now both evangelical Christian preachers, once mixed within the 1960s psychedelic scene.
'My mum went on a date with Jimi Hendrix. My dad was a part of Strawberry Fields Forever and hung out with Timothy Leary,' she said in an interview on Katie Couric's All Access Grammy Special.
Leary was considered a counter-culture icon who advocated psychedelic drug research and promoted the spiritual benefits of LSD.
'My parents have stories. They probably have better stories than I do.'
'And they found God. They needed to find God. Not that they needed to find God, but God found them, really.'
Katy said that her early years closely mirrored Jesus Camp, a documentary about young children and evangelical Christianity.
'I watched it and I went, 'Oh my gosh! I didn't know they had behind-the-scenes footage of my childhood!'
Her parents Keith and Mary Hudson - Katy performs under her mother's maiden name - have previously said they are deeply ashamed of the star for ‘promoting a sin’.
Looks to me like her parents went from one religious fanaticism to another.
More infos about Katy’s performance at the Grammys
Yesterday, it was second day of rehearsals for the show. Several artists went through their performance for Sunday often cut up by the stage director and their choreographers to make sure all the camera angles work and the performance will be top-notch. (...)
The show will then go straight into the much-anticipated performance of Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl", which will be somewhat of a spectacle. Her set is like a Fruit of the Loom-inspired set with Perry dressed up as Lady Chiquita. She will be paired with amateur singers who won the My GRAMMY Moment contest via video screen. During her set, she will also fly around a bit, but I can't tell you more than that. You gotta watch. Sorry."
There is an inaccuracy in this article cause they say that Katy said she can't jump rope and we all know that she's damn good at it so...take from this what you will

EMI hosting only major label Grammy bash: 'no fruit, flowers or candles'
What’s this about EMI hosting the biggest, the only, bash at tonight’s Grammy awards?
Around 1,000 people are invited to the swanky Beverly Hills Hotel, including EMI artists Katy Perry and Coldplay. And, the word in 90210 is that they’ll all flock to the hotel’s famous pool because there are no alternatives – rivals Universal, Sony and Warner have toned down celebrations because of the recession.
Some might have thought EMI’s private-equity backer would have done the same but then Terra Firma boss Guy Hands, who will be poolside tonight, never ceases to surprise.
Only last year he was deriding previous management for spending too much on fruit, flowers and candles. Yet it’s not a complete u-turn. A spokesman for Hands said that the party had been sponsored by UV Vodka and assured us that there would be no fruit, flowers or candles.
Katy Perry goes for the early 20’s fashion look as she had the hairstyle to prove it. Katy’s dress consisted of a cleavage bearing frock with a tulle-like bottom. Katy kept the accessories to a minimum, while instead caked on layers of makeup.
