Avril Media Appearance Forum
Hey, I am reposting this message into its own thread, because I think it sort of got lost in the old one. There was never any resolution to it. So here it goes again:
I just came in this forum to request a special section that woudl alert us about any Avril media sigthings, and I saw that someone is already going in that direction.
I think you have some sort of a section like that on the site's homepage, but us Mac users still can not access the site properly. Plus, if we have such a section in the forum area, we can subnscribe to it and get email notifications of any postings to it, so it will be easier to learn about any new listings.
You did make a new forum called "Articles and Concert Reviews". I think that that forum can be a part of this one which be a more all encompassing one.
Also, this would serve as a great record of all her appearances, magazine articles, etc. I would suggest that there would be a unique thread created for each appearance, rather than people just mixing up all different things into the same threads. This will also allow people to avoid double posting about the same sighting, because they can easily browse the thread titles and see if it has already been reported.
We could have a simple code that everyone could follow when they want to announce a new sighting. Like you would start the subject with:
TV, MAG, RADIO, CONCERT, etc...
Then give the title of the show or magazine and the date. And then in the body of the post, you explain what the sighting is and give details. So for example:
Subject: TV: "DATELINE", NBC 9:00 PM EST 04/23/03
Detail: There is an interview with Avril on Dateline this Tuesday, blah, blah, blah...
Anyway, just an idea...

so you're saying there should be a separate media appearance forum or should people just start posting media appearances within the articles forum? or that we should divide the articles forum into subforums?

Maybe if there was just some sort of key that could be applied to each thread?
I dunno if that could actually be done, but maybe so if the thread was about a magazine article, the subject heading was green, and if thread was about a tv appearance it could be red e.t.c
Just say if thats dumb, like I said, I'm not sure if you could do it.

I think that there should be a forum called "Avril Sightings" or something like that, and this forum will include ALL events or media appearances by Avril: Concerts, articles, TV appearances, in store signings, radio interviews, etc. If we use a nice keyword system and everyone sticks to it, then we do not need to have separate subforums for each type of event, although that’s also an easy way to keep things even more separated and organized.
Whether or not we use subforums for each type of event, each "sighting" should have its own thread. And we should use a key like what I suggested to designate what type of "sighting" it is. So just to be clear, I will give some examples again:
Subject would read:
CONCERT: San Jose, Shearer, 04/30/2003
And then everyone can post anything related to this concert under this thread. So people who are going to it can try and let others know so they can hook up if they want or arrange for rides, etc. After the concert, people can post reviews of the concert under the same thread.
Another example:
Subject would read:
TV: MTV, mtvICON, 05/06/03, 9:00 PM EST
The body of the post would give some info:
"Metallica" (2003) Performers honor Metallica for contributions to music and pop culture. Avril will perform "Fuel" at this event.
If we really want to get fancy, we could also use individual color keys so different types of events are easily found within this forum. BUT WE MUST ALSO USE SOME SORT OF TEXT KEY, so we can easily search for them using keywords.
Hope this makes sense, and everyone can appreciate how nice it would be to have such a resource. We could find out about all upcoming evetns and also be able to look back and have a record of everything.

I already suggested a system. The color coding would be another great way to visually identify each typeof event. Good idea skytz.

Haha ^_^
Just google it up for vBulletin tweaks or vBulletin hacks.
There's all sorts of cool and pointless things you can add.
As a matter of fact, I'm somewhat intrested, so I'm gonna go check it out.
