border in photoshop

how do you make a border around images in photoshop? hopefully, there's an easier way than making lines by hand around it...is there?

- right mouse click on the thing were all the layers are showed (see attachment)
- click blending options
- the last option on the left says 'stroke', select that by clicking on it with your left mouse button
- you can change the color/size/opacity and stuff in that menu

Or you may want to make a border around the entire image. To do that, you create a new layer, and then you click the selection tool (looks like the box made with broken lines).

Then press ctrl+a to select everything. Then right click on the picture so you get the following menu. Select the "Stroke' option, then read the next post.

you'll get a menu that asks what color you want the border to be, how many pixels wide, and whether you want to make it on the outside of the edge of the selection, the inside of the edge of the selection, or in the center of the edges. In this case, for a whole-picture border, we'll choose inside. You can also set a percentage of transparency. Click OK, and voila, instant border.
