^Christina, to get 2 pics into one blend, do the following:
Open 2 pictures. Then, click "new" and open a blank blend. The size i use is 530 pixels x 230 pixels. Click on one of the pictures. Click the selection tool(should look like an arrow). This should cause a moving line to appear around the border of the image.
Go up to the bar at the top, and beside "file", you should see "edit". In here, click "copy". Click on the blank blend, and go to "edit" again, and click "paste as new layer". You do the same with the other picture.
You can resize both images by clicking the selection tool (the arrow), followed by dragging the picture inwards from the corner with the mouse to make it samller, as you would in Microsoft paint. This will make it smaller. Do the opposite to enlarge it.
You can select the rubber to rub out the backround. Alternatively, you can use the crop tool, it usually looks like a wand. With this selected, you can click parts of the backround, followed by pressing "delete" on your keyboard. This usually isnt to good, so mastering the manual rubber is a must for good blend making.
As for brushes and stuff, dont worry about that yet. You need to practice the basics first. Whats really important is that you try out EVERYTHING. Even if you dont have a clue what it does.
Also, dont expect to learn everything really fast, it took me over 4 months to get where I am now. Like most, I taught myself. Anyway, hope this helps you.
