A little suprised..
I received the PM a few hours ago, as I imagine most members on here did, informing us of the best way to help maintain the Bandaids community. Now I'm all for this, and as the message suggests, it will be a continual feature, with a message encouraging us to sign up for a new account to various online offers. However, I feel that there is something that hasn't quite been taken into account by the administrators here. You guys do a good job, providing a medium for which thousands of fans can converse and communicate with other like minded souls. However, with that service comes great responsibility.
To kick off the commercial revenue drive, you guys chose, for whatever reason, a gambling site. Now, considering a significant proportion of the membership base here are, for the want of a better expression, just kids, I think its fair to say that sending every active member on here a private message, encouraging them to register for a gambling account (free or otherwise), is downright reckless.
I'd suggest you guys review your policy with regards to vetting future commission partnerships. Either that, or filtering out who you target with them.
Just a heads up.

Lol? I'm not sure you understand how that all works.
In a nutshell, we receive offers to send out to our members and in return we receive money to help run the site. Without these, you'd be on the official site, and would not be having fun. We're not forcing anybody to sign up. They're there for you if you want to keep the site alive.
We tend to send them out quite often and this is the first complaint.

I think almost everyone that will go to the site will register and then not use the account at all. Registering gives us money; people do not have to use their account.

I know exactly how it works, I'm a web developer and advertising/commission based revenue is my bread and butter.
I'm not entirely sure you understood my point. I'm well aware that members aren't obligated to follow through with these suggestions, but they are suggestions nonetheless, and encouraging kids to sign up for poker accounts isn't a clever or responsible way to pay for your server fees.

Lol. Our members can make decisions for themselves. These are simply offers that we pass along to our members.

Yes, indeed they can. And if you're 12 years old, will that decision be an intelligent and calculated one, based on knowledge and experience? Didn't think so.
Again, you've missed my point.

Nah, haven't missed any points. If they don't want to register, they don't have to.
Our members never have a problem with this kind of stuff. In fact, they often PM us asking for more offers and surveys to fill out to earn Bandaids money

Well, clearly you have missed my point then. I take it theres nothing wrong with offering a child a vodka then, as its up to them whether they drink it or not? Nice logic.

What does that have to do with anything?

Your argument isn't valid. Talk to Sharifa (staticrebelle). You don't seem to listen to what I have to say anyways .

Adam, you're not getting it. The point is that you are offering a sign-up for something that younger members really shouldn't be pointed towards.
They are suggesting you find sign-ups for something more age appropriate.
Yes, they are not obligated, but it is still suggested at a gambling site.
Get it?
