I agree again
I agree again
I agree Avril went to these people because she needed to satisfy the label but that doesn't mean it will be meaningless and I would say a love song even if is about brody is meaningful. Alex Da Kids also worked with Hayley Williams and if Avril wants a meaningful song then he'll help her as she only uses other songwriters to develop her ideas. I think she did write it To view the link you have to Register

Don't Let Me Go!

LMAO, WHY YOU SO MAD?!
LTWYL is actually a pretty powerful song. The lyrics completely capture an abusive relationship accurately. If you don't hear the power in Eminem's voice when he raps that explicit line, you're crazy.
How meaningful are you expecting Avril to go this record..? None of her past material has been very deep. It scratches the surface of some complex issues, but her material is always watered down with a nice pop friendly chorus. She's a pop singer, and she's very good at what she does. I'm not expecting anything too different or groundbreaking from Avril this era (lyric wise). I think she'll have a stripped song about being lonely or something , but for the most part, I think she'll be keeping the songs relatively signature.
i like M&M i think half the time he is a meaningful artist but there is no requirement for every song to be deep lyrical for me to enjoy it but i do get pissed offwith a constant flow of empty headed artist in the mainstream .
and i have read enough articles from groups and organisations that deal with domestic abuse every day talking about this song and video to understand there are 2 points of view , and most of the victims of abuse don't seem to agree with you , jack or lewis about how important this song was and its positive affects .
but do you understand what shy said in her statement ?
sky is the one saying that there aren't many songs in the top 40 with any meaning and the top 40 is controlled by big record labels , there isn't any DIY in the top 40
"We're revolutionizing top 40 radio folks....songs with MEANING are the future of successful music"
and she is saying tat she and her artist and producer friends are going to change that around , thats what she means , except its bullshit because her artist and producer friends are the people responsible for meaningless shit at the top of the charts .
i am not saying anything but pointing out her bullshit and pointing out she gets paid for meaningless shit .
and why are people here so defensive about anyone criticising sky ?
why ? because she worked with avril once ? there is no evidence at all that she is even referring to avril , she is more likely talking about rihana as her single and album is coming out , and please tell me for a joke you think rihanna can be called a meaningful artist with meaningful songs ?
you are all getting pissy and defensive and complaining that its "bashing avril " when no one is even talking about her , people are talking about sky and her bad voice and her hypocrisy , its so fucking weird
She wrote ONE song for top 40 radio. That is my point. It's a meaningful song and the fact you mention that people will disagree or agree with it's meaning in a debate type fashion proves the point it's meaningful.
In regards to her type of people controlling the charts. If you did your research you would see that Alex and Skylar are brand new writers for 2010, and have only two/three top ten hits and have no where near any control over the top 40 radio.
Really your comments hold little to no fact, I don't get why I'm even discussing your inaccurate arguments
lets talk about facts then , lets talk about the starving kids in ethiopia and LIVE aid and LIVE 8
how much money did live aid raise ?
how much of that $200 million actually made it to helping real people ?
how many ten of thousands of human beings ended up losing their lives because of the way in which that aid was distributed ?
how much damage did a bunch of idiot celebrities and their even more idiot fans and media end up doing in Ethiopia ?
was it more or less or about the same as than the famine ?
do you want to take a guess at how many human beings died as a result of live aid and a song about African hungry children ?
want to try and take a guess ? 10 000 ? 20 000 ? 30 000? 40 000 ? 50 000 ? 60 000 ? 70 000? 80 000? 90 000 ? 100 000 ? 150 000 ? 200 000?
what about LIVE 8 then ?
$65 billion for africa claimed by BOB and his PR and production company ? yes
how much has actually came through ? take a guess again
how much attention was taken away from the real issues and real problems of africa and the developing world by bob and all his celebrity fame hungry friends ?
do you even remember what the technical problems were that Africa faces ? and do you remember the real practical solutions that real experts expressed ? or do you just remember a nice meaningful pops song and you can feel good about it
how much damage did they end up doing ?
"the road to hell is paved with good intention"
and of course anybody who suggested that something might not be right about anything to do with charity or a good cause , or offers any type of critical opinion must be a hater and a bad person right ? typical
keep feeling superior and keep living with your heads in the sand don't ever try and question anything you are being sold and don't try and educate yourselves ever you will be happier that way .
and while we are on the subject has anybody educated themselves and done some research into why the type of charity auction that the nancy davis foundation ,which avril is a director of , can be a massive tax scam for rich people and companies yet ? no didn't thinks but you will support it all anyway , mindlessly like a good little drone
Erm pointless. All completely irrelevant Stay on topic.
We're talking about the meaning of songs, not how charitiable finance is distributed towards Africa. Songs about helping Africa are full of meaning regardless of how the finance is distributed and what problems it caused.
Hate when people go off point and think they have a relevant argument with it
