^ In that case, you should ask Avril, Butch and even Deryck, just in case. As producer, Butch added things to the instrumental, just like any other producer out there; but lyrics, melody and main instrument (piano for this song) was composed entirely by Avril, as it's credited.

Exactly Jack. The writer writes the main components of the song. All outside effects and instruments are added afterwards in the production.

Avril wrote the main component of the music (on Piano), the lyrics entirely and melody too. Butch produced the song so is most likely to have developed the outside instrumental and Im sure Deryck added some outside effects if he mixed the song.

Ha'way man, she wrote the song herself. We've been wanting this to happen in a long time. Let's not let how much involvment had with the outcome, it would have been little more than a wee bit, the drums, the extra effects such as the intro and the outro. The choral singing in the final chorus would have been Butch's work too.

Avril would have written the piano, the melody and the lyrics.

Avril has done some production on 3 songs for the album, and one completely on her own. Can't wait to hear the outcome

Maybe if she includes it on the album, we'll be able to get the "Piano by...", "Drums by..." things. I know that for some people is important to see Avril playing instruments for the songs. Since she wrote the piano part, she probably played it for the song too. Rest of things were probably played and added by Butch and maybe Deryck. Who knows...
