you are talking to a Welshman so any sport that the English are fond of and get stuffed in is fine with me

i went to cricket match a couple of years ago because i have relative that runs it , not many people there and half of the ones that were there were asleep in deckchairs , and also quite a lot of warm beer and sandwiches with the crusts cut off ,

i watch a bit of rugby , might watch baseball if it was a hour long and somebody explained the rules .

i have a theory that American sports go on for so long so that the commercial side of the bizz can make as much money as possible from food and snacks and drinks .
even i would eat 3 hot dogs and a bowl of pop corn if i had to sit around for 4 hours .
i think they do the same with films now , they make a 2 and a half hour film so you need to eat something and buy a large drink just to get through it

so whats the snack situation like at a game ? sandwiches with crusts ? yanks

The jays players are brought in as projects, when they become good they get shipped out of town because they demand more money that they can't afford - rinse- repeat. Competing on a 50 million dollar budget with the yankees 200+ million budget is a joke.

You see each fan is given a pair of adult diapers, when it gets filled up with crap the fan heads to the parking lot and the game is over.

I thought the the new sport by the brits was oil spilling?

Rules of baseball : take stick - hit ball - run around bases - make millions.

@Dale , yur 1st message is true , the Jays can't compete with the
Yankees or The Boston Red Sox as far as how high their payrole
can be . Second message about baseball being take a stick and
hit the ball and round the bases . Well if yu have studied the
game as long as I have yu know there is way more to it than
that . It would take me hours and hours to explain all the
    details of a game to yu , so I won't try .
To answer the question of why a game in the States takes
so long . Yes yur right , they can sell more food and have
more advertisements on TV , which is where the Real Money
comes from. But something else figures in , if yu go to a
game it's an outing and I went to an NFL game in Buffalo and
they are there in the parking lot 3and half hours before the
game "Tailgating " they call it . Bar B Que fired up , eating and
drinking and socalizing . Some ballparks have hot tubs where
seating would be in the outfield and people and companies rent
these and party like crazy . I don't even know if they can see
the game very well . But they are having a blast . After the game i
went to we cooked and ate and drank for 2 or 3 hours in the parking
lot again . It 's Not just the Game , they do way more than that .
I guess yu could say it 's a BIG Social Event for them . Some
people can only go to a game or 2 a year so they make the
most of it . Others go every game and they have a routine and
park in the same spot and beside the same people and they party
together every week . Being from Canada my dad and his friends
would party with the Americans from Buffalo and they would excange
food we can get in Canada and the Americans would sell my dad
stuff we can't get in Canada . Eventually yu have got some close
friends from the U.S. and since the football is once a week they
can't wait to see each other . If a game goes to extra innings or football
to overtime , all the better . I hope that explains some of it to yu . From
what i've seen from other members the soccer games are the same in
Europe , where the fans are there having a blast well before the game starts .

The Jays v Yankees budget talk is entirely correct, just like its important for the Red Sox (Boston, PBR) to smack the shit of the Yankees at every chance.

But ya, PBR, American Sports are certainly entertaining, they do the crowd interaction thing really well - hence the sports have a lot of breaks for TV and to allow crowd prizes etc. All in all most sports are a good night out. The hot dogs in the US are generally smaller than most other countries, but still, some people eating 13 in the 'all-you-can-eat' section is a mean feat.

The worst thing is the lack of creativity in American fans' support.

"Go *name of team* Go"; (same as the U! S! A! example below)
    "Let's go, *name of team*";
    "*Opposition name* suck!"

And its wildy creative when the team makes playoffs and white or some other colored towels or some other shitty handout gets bandied around pre-game for the fans to be like sheep and start waving.

Ya about the best. But hey a populace that prides itself on a national chance of simply "U! S! A!" Pretty creative.

Admittedly, the Major League Soccer teams are better and more creative and novel in their support ideas.

Other than that though, its good fun and if you take your own pals, well, you don't even notice then general jock or group of fans there just for a night out who really don't care if the team loses
