Chapter 5
They invited Christopher for the weekend at Amy’s house. He said he could, but only for four hours as he had a bit of homework. Fair, enough. He was trying to compromise. He came exactly on time at 1:00 pm and knocked on the door.”
“Hey,” he said in a very quiet, low voice.
“Oh hey,” Amy and Joanne came rushing down the stairs and pulled him into a hug. He had a very shocked reaction and gave them a brief hug back. They each grabbed one of his arms, and lead him straight up to Amy’s room. In there, they enjoyed a long conversation, getting to know him better.
“What have you been doing after school for the past few nights?” Asked Joanne”
“Um, not such,” he replied, “I’ve been quite busy with homework, so I tend to spend a lot of time on it. It’s nice of you guys to invite me round, I always like a little break sometimes.” He gave a big grin to them both. This was the first time Joanne actually saw him smile popularly. Little dimples appeared from the corner of his mouth. Indeed, she thought he looked extremely cute. They continued to talk, he seemed very motivated to his school work, as he said, he liked a little break sometimes too. “Well, nothing wrong with that,” Joanne told herself.
Christopher may had been a quiet boy, but one really happy boy too. He loved to meet new people, but never really had the guts to make the first move. As Luke and Jacob mentioned, good grades and school work also meant a lot to him. However, he really wanted to spend time with Joanne and Amy; now his best friends. They were all in Amy’s room listening to music. Both Amy and Joanne were both into boy bands as well Christopher. He loved how both the girls always made him feel welcome, like he was part of group for once. After all, there’s always somebody for everyone out there. Somewhere out there, there’s friends for everybody.
They listened to music and gossiped for a couple of hours. Afterwards, they decided to go for a walk to get some fresh air. They took a casual stole down to the usual park they sometimes went to after school. They all sang and laughed down the hill, all the way. Even Christopher decided to join in. They all felt like eleven year olds again but they couldn’t care less. Amy and Joanne were now used to embarrassing themselves in public anyway. As they ran, Joanne’s firey red curls went completely wild in the wind. It all tangled up into one big knot. Amy’s side fringe blew side to slide, but the rest of her hair was in a bun. Christopher’s brown hair was a lot shorter but still blew into his face.
“Where shall we go first?” asked Amy, almost shouting in a five year old tone. They all headed towards the swings first. It was a total laugh when Joanna started to push Amy on the swing. In fact, she pushed her a bit too violently and she fell straight off. Joanne gasped. Was she hurt? She got up, and burst into tears: laughing. They next enjoyed a ride on the see-saw, three of them on together with Christopher in the middle. He just ended up being pushed backwards and forwards.
The rest of the time at the park was great: eating ice cream, going down the slides backwards and annoying any children on their way. On the way back to Amy’s house, they continued to sing and laugh again with the wind blowing their hair again. After a great day, it was time for Joanne and Christopher to make their ways home. They grabbed their things and waved good bye.
‘Wow, what a day.” Christopher thought to himself as he was walking home. He thought about how nice Joanne and Amy where to him. Particularly Joanne. There was something about her which never failed to make his heart beat faster.
