Does Listening to GL make you feel sad?

I know this is maybe a strange question. But I was wondering, since there arent many happy cheery songs on the album, does it make you feel a bit sad when you listen to some of the songs. Like Darlin, Everybody hurts, goodbye etc.

I think they are songs that can easily touch other people, maybe with even a different meaning then Avril wrote it.

Most of the songs have a positive message despite the low-key sound. It makes me more sad listening to TBDT...

Listening to this album actually makes me happy. To me, its like it's saying no matter how low life got (or gets), there's always gonna be a turning point and things are gonna be better again.

No, I don't feel sad. Maybe a bit with Remember When or Goodbye, but overall the album makes me feel good, relaxed and somehow possitive. The album is still very personal and full of Avril's feelings, but it's not dark and depressive as UMS was. It's exactly what I expected and needed from her

Songs like What The Hell, Push, Smile, Stop Standing There all make me feel happy, once the album hits Everybody Hurts it generally does take a happily dappily downfall, but not enough to make me cry, so it can't be that sad for me

Like Avril said, it's bittersweet lyrically. But to me, the overall message of the album is positive: closing one chapter and opening another, getting through the hard times. A lot of the songs made me cry, but not because of sadness. So, my answer is not, not at all.

In fact, songs like Everybody Hurts or Darlin, have very encouraging lyrics, wich make me feel hopeful and positive.

I feel sad when I listen to 4 Real :-D I don't know why :-D..

It really varies song to song. Songs like like Smile, I Love You etc have a very 'happy-go-lucky' feel to them which makes them chilled and not so sad. However, songs like Remember When, Everybody Hurts, Goodbye etc are very melancholic and touching; yet still have a positive message. So it's hard to give a solid answer, songs like EH and RW actually made me cry because of how emotional they are. But the album also makes me happy because like someone said earlier in th thread, the album basically says "Yeah, you might feel low but this is life and it's going to get better". such a beautiful album.
