I'm fully leaning towards this album being released in early 2013, which is a bit of shame because it would've been a nice change of pace for Avril to release an album in the fourth quarter of a calendar year.

There's both good and bad entailed with this strategy:

The Good- Avoiding tough competition and allowing more time for hype/promotion

The Bad- Keeping Avril out of the game even longer and having the public forget about Avril even more

I can't believe that people here thinks the album will be released in 2013 just because of some extra recording session, which only lasted a few days.

Take a look, Avril cans till release her single in this year and the album later this 2012.

With the competition think, take some grip.

I strongly believe that its not the competition that really made GL debut only at #4.

Look, her big competitions last year received more promo, radio support, record label support, media support, have better single choices.

So in a sense, its not the competition itself, its just they did more things right than Avril/RCA was in 2012.

It's their opinion! you are just as vocal as Christina, denying everyone's opinion! Nobody has even mentioned the recording session being the reason. The fact that July is half over and we have NO information is the reason people (including myself) are thinking that we may not get an album this year! There's nothing wrong if people's opinion that it will be released in 2013, but they make it as it will be the truth and fact, when in reality it doesn't make a sense.

Like what I said, just because there are some extra record session and there's no info lately, it doesn't mean it will be 2013,so what if it's July at this moment, its not to late for the single and album this year.

But there isn't news now. When there is, then it will be announced and there will be plenty of communication about it.

There IS news. That it isn't complete despite what she said. That she's back in the studio. That's she's working with Chad. She doesn't need to go into specifics but she does need to tell us she's still working on it.

We're still not entirely sure about that recording session with Chad. As far as I know he only confirmed suspicions that it was a recording session but didn't go into any extra detail so it could be completely unrelated (it probably isn't though).

I do wish we were updated on that though, although Avril didn't intentionally want those pictures of her at the studio being released I would have thought she would like to confirm suspicions or give her fans something to go on.

Things like paparazzi photos of doctors appointments or a meal out aren't worthy of a comment from her but something so relevant to an upcoming album being photographed and receiving a large amount of interest would be a good base for a little bit of promotion. It may not have been announced yet but enough people on here are excited for any news at all.

As for the release date, we really don't know so can we stop arguing about something that is really just based on opinion and unguided conclusions. Let's just wait for some news on the matter and once we've got that you can start your arguments about whether it's "too soon, not enough time for promotion" or "too late, won't get christmas sales bonuses".

As for those claiming she can't go up against competition and should release her album at a time when no-one else is releasing that's rubbish. Not only is she still an artist with a massive reputation for revolutionising the pop industry and is perfectly capable of taking on any other artist but to "not come up against any competition" in the music industry now is impossible. Artists are releasing albums more and more regularly and seem to be releasing more and more singles from those albums. All those releasing songs this fall that you're saying she should avoid will be releasing second and third, sometimes even fourth and fifth singles well into next year. Along with the lead singles of the many other thousands of big artists these days. There will not be a 'free' spot for Avril. Sales figures in the lead up to Christmas are generally higher all round anyway so even if she doesn't reach number 1 she may still sell more than she would with a early 2013 release that does reach number one.

It's really sad to see us so worry about competition for a singer with 10 years of career, it's really sad! We treat Avril like she was a newbie..How did we reach this level?

That's what happens when you lose a good chunk of your fanbase, as well as a major portion of the public's interest.

Yeah we know that, but it doesn't mean she can't rise again. How could the public interested in her if most of them, ( I am talking about the open minded, silent majority, not those loud obnoxious type you are talking about ) don't even know she have a new music.

All she needs to do is a the right ,perfect single, right image and lots of proper promo.

Compare those artist, her competition in 2012, those who are "bigger than her" have better label support, better radio and promo.

Put any artist in the same scenario of GL era, wrong single,s wrong images, lack of promo etc, I can bet my money that even Brit, Beyonce and Gaga would flop if they are the same situation.
