This is what happen in my country , we 're actually having a peaceful rally and then goverment using police force to make us go back and try to stop this meant to be peaceful rally . even using tear gas , water cannon and etc to make some of them to stop having this rally and still most of them wanted to keep going and won't stop .

So what you guys think ? Do you think this is a democracy country as the goverment often claim as ...? They keep telling lie and say it 's a democracy country when it 's turn out to be a violent mess when it come to this ... it 's mean that we as a people have a right to voice out yet the goverment wanted to shut our mouth ...stupid idiot goverment , i respect those who join this rally . I salute them !

I checked out the Wikpedia article you mention and I quote:

Just like the story about the "Genie in the Bottle" from 1001 Arabian Nights;
once the people have acquired a taste for self-determination; it is very hard for
the oppressive governments to maintain the status quo.

I notice that the 2007 Bersih rally was supposed to be held in Merdeka Stadium
in Kuala Lumpur, but the plan was rejected by the police.

When I saw the name, "Merdeka", it reminded me of Avril's concert in that stadium

However, Malaysia is not alone, in experiencing strong police resistance to rallies
and demonstrations. Last year, we had the G8 & G20 Summit in Toronto, and the
police used excessive force. Quote: "Thousands of people took to the streets in
Toronto, Canada to demonstrate against the twin G8 and G20 summits. Violent protesters
caused riots according to the police, but one has to question from where the violence

Yea .....They was suppost to have a peaceful rally in Stadium Merdeka which was a concert venue for Avril 's concert back in 2008 , and the bloody idiot goverment just sent those police force to stop those supporter to go there for having a rather peaceful rally , those police which taking order from goverment i think which is our PM that to stop those peacful rally going to that stadium ...even having a road block that going toward Kuala Lumpur .....*sigh* i think the Bersih 2.0 rally is happening coz i think next year would have a General Election , so i think i going to use my vote to vote this stupid goverment out of their position , WE only want a clean and fair General election , we have told the goverment we want a peaceful rally in a stadium but the goverment say we need to have permit and then when BErsih 2.0 person -in-charge submit the permit , the police say it's illegal and whatsoever ....They twisted . Clearly our Goverment are scared that we'll have rally just like Egyption rally that bring down their own leader ....and Our PM i think just hide somewhere else

myself the question: "What did the Egyptian people accomplish?" They are
now being governed by a Military Regime, which is not tolerant of demonstrations.
At least Mubarak was reasonably tolerant of demonstrations.....

It's a long road to decent democratic government...and the battle never ends;
because if we close our eyes for a moment, there will be crooked politicians
ready to empty our pockets.

Well since i am already a registered voter , i know which side i should vote and which i should vote off ....I want Barisan National to go down , go really down , well , at least it's a sucess it's a 50K rally , even Malaysian all over the world are having rally , New York , Melbourne , New Zealand , Singapore ...Those city are having rally yet the police force and goverment just let it happen instead of calling all police force to have tear gas and water cannon , it 's really shameful and they overreact against this rallies !!! , Well it's a beginning , it mean GAMES ON !
