Actually, I know a lot more non-Avril fans who know her for Girlfriend than who know her for Complicated. Both were big hits, but Girlfriend was huge.

Yeah, i think she replaced Complicated with I'm With You. So it is like LG = I'm With You, UMS = My Happy Ending, TBDT = Girlfriend. She is trying to please everyone there.

But i agree with Devon about Girlfriend being bratty and old, but it is just my personal opinion.

I think she just keeps it on her setlist in general because it was a single and particularly because it's her biggest hit. She said quite a few times "I know it's always important to perform my singles", and that's because those are the songs who make non-fans recognize her. She will keep performing them, for good or bad, at least while she's under mainstream music networks. As long as she doesn't perform more TBDT songs than she's doing right now (I would remove Hot, though), I will be fine

Avril is in great vocal form....I love the little changes she makes in the songs.

I know that I am watching a 'real pro' at work. Thanks ever so much for posting
this material. She admits the 'repetitive nature' of her tour, and how she has to
maintain a good headspace. She also mentions how supportive her fans are, for her
charities.

Wonderful interview...so natural and easy-flowing. Avril is maturing very nicely.

I liked IWY and MHE the rest are garbage, and only the recording engineers will ever know how much they did in polishing up her vocals.

Couple things:

1) Nice to see Av dust off her acoustic guitar (and be able to hear it) for MHE.

2) I don't recognize much audio manipulation here. Granted, I'm no expert , but keep in mind this is live in the studio which is a whole different animal than live in concert. Having heard lots of the Black Star Tour perfomances, I'm amazed at how much of a sing-a-long the crowds are doing - that has to fuck with Avril's pace and pitch on some songs. Also, here on the AOL sessions, they may have had multiple takes to get things just right.

In any event, these takes are a treat.
