I think it's a bit too early for this thread, to be honest. I haven't even heard anything about it on radio, tv yet, but I'm always keeping an eye out![]()
Proud Avril Lavigne Fan ♥2002 - ∞
I met Avril on the 31.03.11 in SydneyAnd it was the best day of my life♥
Actually, this song is Pop friendly, so Pop is still our priority while requesting.Originally Posted by Devon To view the link you have to Register
I hope this will turn out to be the biggest hit of the era, if not, then at least better than Smile.

No!!!! Hot AC is our priority for two reasons:
1) Mainly, Adults listen to Hot AC stations, adults don't illegally download as much as teens, hence, rising WYWH on iTunes!
2) Top 40 will not play WYWH, the only ballads they play is R&B/Rap (Airplanes, Grenade)

I need the Sirius Radio in my car.

Okay, well... I am still not clear on what our strategy for "Wish You Were Here" is yet, but whatever good ideas you guys have, I am in.
1, Last Friday Night is going to be #1 on HAC, which showed which type of music they are playing. And HAC is heavily influenced by Top 40, if we manage to get WYWH to top 15 on Pop, I have no doubt that it can make top 10 on HAC on its own.Originally Posted by Devon To view the link you have to Register
2, F*ckin' Perfect went #1 on top 40 not so long ago, and WYWH got a similar vibe to it. I won't say both songs are completely ballad though. The chorus is a little bit stronger than a ballad. Jar Of Heart and For The First Time also did really well on Pop. It's not like top 40 won't play any ballads, they will play the good ones, and WYWH is clearly one of them.
3, The amount of Audience Impression (AI) (this directly count to Billboard), which mean the number of listeners on Pop is way higher then HAC. A song can reach as high as 96 million AI on Pop, while the highest AI on HAC is 25 million only. If we get WYWH to top 20 on Pop, it will have the same amount of AI as the #1 song on HAC. Not to mention HAC is very slow, it may take 4-5 months for a song to reach #1, while getting to top 20 on Pop may take only 1 or 2 months. (What The Hell got to top 20 in like one and a half month)
4, Adults don't use Itunes, mostly teenagers(that's why Justin Bieber's songs can easily shot to #1). That may explain why Pop is the format that benefits itunes position the most. "Good Life" is the current #1 on HAC, top 10 on Pop and it's not even top 10 on Itunes, while Party Rock Anthem, peaked #1 on Pop and only top 30 on HAC managed to stay on top of itunes for weeks.
5, From the beginning of Avril's career, Pop is always the main format of Avril, no matter what type of songs she releases (Ballads, Pop Rock, Fun Upbeat...). So It should remain as the priority for not only this song, but also the future singles. I don't say that AC and HAC are not important though, but Pop should be the first format when it comes to requesting.

Smile is pretty much dead and buried in Australia - it's been off the charts for weeks now, and I'm DYING for Sony Australia to start pushing Wish You Were Here - I've sent messages, Facebooked and Tweeted all the major Australian radio stations asking them to start playing it, but I haven't had any luck yet :/ And I keep checking the Australian iTunes charts to see any evidence of it, but no luck either - anyone got any suggestions for me??
