Why do Avril Lavigne fans criticise her so much?

When I come on here i want to talk about her not hear some smart ass criticise her for everything

Her lyrics,singing,songwriting and her clothes all get attacked

Because she is constantly underselling her talents and i think we get frustrated by that. Alot of us want to see her be known for more than just a pop singer targeted at a young demographic. Most of the more critical fans are older like me, it's sad to see her playing to younger audiences than the ones from back in 2003 even.

And most fan forums are like this, Muse, Coldplay etc you get similar debates about the direction the music is going in and such...

The more mature fans, i think just want her to be more. When they nag on her its more of a "oh this wont do well, or don't dress like that because you wont be taken seriously" kind of thing. Like someone else said up there, we don't want her to under sell her talents. Also, its the record labels fault too. I think we all just want MORE for Avril and sometimes we don't get it. So we get frustrated and criticize her.

hater slayer92, I agree with you on to a certain extent. Criticism is welcomed here though; just because we're a fansite doesn't mean us members are not allowed to express our dislikes and disappointments, if Avril doesn't satisfy or meet your expectations. But once the criticizing turns into repetitive and non-stop bitching, that's when it gets annoying. I totally get your point, it's so frustrating to see some people repeating their comments again and again to get their point across.

But feel free to discuss anything you want, just ignore the negativity or start discussion topics yourself.

A fan doesn't have to like everything an artist does. They criticize because they're speaking their honesty and because they're expressing their concerns, as well as that. That's allowed in here, as long as you DON'T cross the hyprocrite line, which is a nono. The hyprocrite line, I mean starting to call her so much childish and petty remarks. Sometimes, it frustates me reading soo much critical opinions from ppl, but at least I understand. Despite the criticalness (is this even a word?? ) fr0m some ppl, most likely, some are still fans.

I agree with most of what's being said but most people here don't have a lot of good things to say about Avril. It's constant nagging and bitching. I have questioned a lot on why people can get so harsh but it's the way it is unfortunately. Every other Pop artist out there is doing good and are so mature!..... But Avril is not.

You don't need to have an IQ of 99999999999 to tell who is fan and who is not.

There are negative and critical people but they are still a fan,they are just concerned and worried about Avril and her career.

Like, I praise Avril's talent, voice, and songs, she never fails to satisfy me on my demand on that area

BUT I also hate the fact that Avril never really cared and don't really have the drive to be #1, while most of her contemporaries want to be #1, which is obviously affecting her in a bad way.

HOWEVER there is some "fans" here who is obviously no longer a fan and is tooooo blind to appreciate and praise on the things she is doing right, on the things she's doing great at.

For those "fans" Avril is always wrong no matter what she do unless she start to change her personality and things in her personal life.

And no, Avril is not the only one getting this, like what I said, ROCK MUSIC FANS are mostly like this, I really don't get the point of the "rock" crowd and why do they act shit and always criticizing their favorite band/artist for the sake of doing so.

Comments on Red Hot Chilli Peppers about their formula and the band members behavior.

Telling Billy Joe Armstrong to grow up and stop acting like a teen ager
