I wrote two songs recently. But they're kinda stupid, knowing I'm 13 LOL.
One of them is about.. well, myself. Just myself and stupid things about me.
The other one is about me being bullied in second grade. I wish no one will ever live what I lived that time...
Like it or not, even though she's a lot like me, we're not the same.

I started writing songs when I was 15, so only for about 4 years now. I play guitar and piano so I find that it's easier to generate a melody when using an instrument. Or sometimes I'll just be humming something and words will come. Totally agree with Annie- some songs you just spend too much time on and they suck and the ones that come out naturally are usually the best ones. When I get stuck on something, I just abandon it entirely. If you're having trouble with it, the song will most likely be terrible and you'll have wasted all that time on it.
I have a YouTube page of some of my songs that I recorded and covers (a few Avril ones too!!!) and a few live shows I played if anybody wants to see. Just search BogoGog24.
Songwriting Tips:
- If you spend too much time on one song and don't seem to be getting anywhere or it doesn't feel right to you, it's okay to scrap it and not finish it
- If you are timid about sharing your lyrics, show them to someone who you trust a lot and who would never make fun of you, such as a best friend, grandparent, etc.
- When stuck on trying to find a word to rhyme with another word, go through every letter of the alphabet saying the sound you need. Example: You need a word to rhyme with "you", so you say, "boo", "coo", "do," "foo", "goo", etc. You'll find some really interesting words that don't necessarily come to mind right away.
- Instead of using typical rhymes that can be found in countless other songs, try the above method and try choosing a different word. Example: "I love you/I love everything you do" ----> "I love you/You make me turn to goo." Something like that, sorry if that's too cheesy.
- A song can be any form you want. It doesn't necessarily have to be Verse, Chorus, Verse. It doesn't even have to have a chorus if you don't want it to. The bridge can sound the same as the other verses instead of sounding different. There can be an instrumental break instead of a bridge. You can just repeat the chorus instead of having a bridge. There is no one standard form for songwriting- you can do anything you want with it. Be creative, be innovative, think outside the box.
- In the beginning, your songs probably won't be that great, but that happens with almost every songwriter (myself included). You WILL get better at it, the more you do it.
- As Annie said, not every song will be great, even after you've been doing it for a while. But instead of getting frustrated, look at it as an experience. You took an idea and ran with it and practiced your skills and that's the important thing. You can use it to look back on and decide what you didn't like about it and improve for the next one. I bet even Avril writes songs every now and then that she doesn't like or doesn't think are good enough to go on record.
- The main thing is to do it for yourself- don't write songs that you think have to be a certain style or written for a certain artist or for a certain genre or whatever. Just write what comes naturally to you and that's what will make the song good- because it is your own style and you are not trying to copy someone or write in a way that is not for you.
Hope these tips help!

So what's the next topic for discussion?
"Heroes don't exist, John, and if they did I wouldn't be one of them"

I first started writing lyrics before I could understand what I was doing to document It. However, my first time really focusing on Journaling and feeling It flow I can pinpoint to the day. It happened thanks to the publication of Kurt Cobain's Journals. I bought the Hardcover book the day It was released In November of 2002. Reading the way he wrote helped me write and become a better writer! By that time I had already started playing guitar and bass guitar, but wasn't very good. It took me a long time before I could put my lyrics to the Instrument playing. As a musician I have run into a ton of technical road blocks. Still to this day I am stuck as a musician because of lack of money and contacts.

Would someone please post in here?! Lol jk

A mind, blossoming ideas.
Creativity sparks a flame.
Water finishes the image;
Immature mentality is too blame.
Life is like a painting.
You don't know where you're going until it's finished.
Life is like a party.
Ideas and ideals are soon diminished.
Blamed by people you never knew.
Judged by people you thought you knew.
It's a cycle. It's a possiblity. It's endless.
Possibilites are never ending.
Graced by tabloids of today's youth.
There actions and words are uncouth.
You know who you can trust.
You know who is riddled with rust.
There words are tainted, there actions are fading.
They don't seem too care any more.
They think at nothing of closing the already broken door.
Silly pestilent beings.

I started writing lyrics properly, like, a year ago, maybe less. I´ve written a couple of crappy songs when I was like 12, probably about loveNow I´ve finally figured out what I want, so I write a lot, but only when I feel like it, I think you have to love what you do to be successful.
“When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you until it seems that you cannot hold on for a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time when the tide will turn.”
― Harriet Beecher Stowe

I started writing when I was 13. I had this lyrics on my mind and the melody just came out of nowhere, i just kept on singing it that i decided to write it down and make a song. And yes, it was very cheesy too. I was so happy that I had written a song that I was inspired to write more. There were times before I got frustrated because I couldn't finish a song, but then I realized you shouldn't force yourself and just let it flow. When an inspiration comes, it's the best timing for you can pour out your emotions into words, into melodies and it just comes out naturally. If you have unfinished lyrics just keep it and maybe someday you will find the right lines to fit with it.

A long time ago, in junior high. I wrote poems about a girl and so many girls wanted me to be with her. Still, it didn't work out that way. That's when I started. I woke up from that when I was really young and I still wide awake about it.

It's funny how you hide behind this profile? I don't find they're "Silly pestilent beings", I would never say that of anyone. Mind you it can be an extreme miss-interpretation at times.Originally Posted by BBChrisE To view the link you have to Register
