THIS. Gaga's fans are so annoying. On my flight to Paris, I was wearing an Avril T-shirt, and I was sitting next to a guy wearing a Gaga T-shirt. This guy kept giving me dirty looks for 7 hours straight.

From what I've seen, Gaga's fanbase is composed of mostly gay people, teens, and shallow 20-something women. Plus, she does A LOT of pandering to the LGBT community. I could be wrong, but I'm basing my opinion on the kinds of "Little Monsters" that I had to put up with in the past.

U2's fanbase is MUCH MORE than that.

What do you have against U2? As proven before, Gaga doesn't have the massive sized fanbase that U2 has had. U2 is the biggest band in the world.

Don't turn this into *everything you like sucks, but all the music I like is what everyone should like!*

You can't shift peoples opinions about the music they prefer. It's okay if someone like's Gaga, or likes U2, or likes both, or could give two shits for either. We can't all be the same. Don't attack someone if they're not into U2 (or any other band/artist.) You're free to like and dislike what you want, but allow others to do the same.

You wouldn't want someone responding to one of your posts saying: "What do you have against Lady Gaga?"

You just don't like her music. It's that simple. What do some members have "against" U2? Nothing, they just don't like their music.

I could careless if she try to be annoying with shock tactics, as long as she made it up for music, however, I never really liked her music. So I never really liked her.

Also no offense, but, I want to see a rockstar, or a band that is big as U2, however I want to see a rock front man who is the direct opposite of Bono in everything, just to balance things out

I am not even a U2 fan, or a casual listener.

Another thing, I don't like her music but I admire her desire and hunger to take over the world. Which I already stated many times, Avril can and should learn from Gaga, except for musical style and overdoing things.

Regarding the shock factor. Doing something strange have become very predictable from her, specially the outfits.

The only thing she can do for shock factor is to dress normal, however, I don't mean to be rude or something, but she don't have the beauty to pull it out. No offense but it's not only my opinion but from others as well.

I'm not attacking anyone. I'm just asking why she prefers Gaga over U2. A simple question. Ten years from now, if Gaga manages to churn out successful albums and maintains a huge fanbase like U2, then good for her.

And I'm simply agreeing with what Another Rainy Day said. I like some of Gaga's songs. But there's seriously nothing original about her gimmick or her musical style. It's all been done before.

And if you like Gaga, that's fine. But if you're going to give me dirty looks for 7 hours straight or curse me out for simply liking Avril over Gaga, then you're just gonna get under my skin.

first, Gaga's fanbase is much much much more than what you say. I'm not gay, a teen or a shallow woman. I appreciate the spectacle of her performances, being a Sondheim girl at heart, as well as all she does for her fans/fighting for gay rights. I find it very offensive that you would say that, especially because that is like saying Avril's fanbase is just 12 year old angsty girls.
go on Gaga Daily. You'll see that a lot Gaga fans actually were Avril fans in the past, and like Gaga for the same reasons they like Avril: she inspires people to be themselves.

second, I didn't say I have anything against U2. I just said I haven't liked anything they have put out in a long long time. Having something against U2 would be saying that I think Bono is a douchebag (whether or not actually I think this is irrelevant).

I was basing my observation on Gaga's fanbase on the fans that I've encountered in the past few years. And these are the same fans that have given me shit for liking Avril over Gaga.

And I'm not the first Bandaider who has made similar observations on Gaga's fanbase, her musical style, or her public image. You'll find them scattered here and there on these forums.

Plus, I think it's fine that you don't like U2 or Bono. Tons of people don't. I was merely asking why. That's all.

Truth is, I have a love-hate relationship with Gaga. I bought her latest record because I love 3 tracks of her latest album:" You and I", "The edge of glory" and "Born this way". However, I wouldn't go to her concert because I only like a few songs from her and I don't like overproduced concerts. I only enjoy listening to her acoustic, piano-driven stuff. I love her voice and how she's so crazy and careless. She always demonstrates so much passion and enthusiasm onstage. I'm aware she's a marketing product because of all the crazy outfits she wears is just to gain attention given she used to be such an average girl day back in the day. Anyway, I don't wanna go that off topic. Back to the question, I DO think her popularity is fading a bit. However, it's all about the promotion she has and the new trends. That's how the showbizz is, especially in this era.

Thing is... Her shock tactics are getting tiring, her ridiculous comments and all that are getting stale.

I noticed that she and her management, to maintan the shock factor is, they are slowly making gaga dressing normal.

However, I do think it will affect her "power" in a great way. No offense but there's a reason why she have to dress that way besides for shock factor, I may sound rude, but it is kinda used to take all the attention away from her face...

How will it affect her power in a great way? Simple, she don't have the beauty to save herself. It sounds dumb but beauty, love it or hate, is a factor in pop-music world. If she goes the indie road, then no problem, but the indie crowd mostly hate her.

I really couldn't care less about Lady Gaga's fame fading nor could I care less about her.
