I don't want another "Girlfriend" type of song.Originally Posted by how does it feel To view the link you have to Register
Let's all hope the material with runners is very different from luke, in a better way.
I just want more serious singles song from her because I hate the fact that of all Avril's song, the public remember her the most with "Girlfriend" which is not a great thing because it's associated with the "immature" image that came up from TBDT.
I also wonder what will happen with TBDT if luke did not came in the picture, will it be better or worst? Will it be not so "childish" or it can be more "playful"
There's even a poll on which Avril song is the best, "Girlfriend" did not even made it to the top 20 if you ask her fans about.
In my opinion "Hot" is better and much deserving than "Girlfriend".
I also don't understand and hate to accept why some of Avril's more respectable song, such as "Complicated" " I'm With You" and " My Happy Ending" did not made it to #1 in Billboard single charts why the bratty, not so meaningful song, "Girlfriend" Made it. Which is weird because it make us think, is the public really asking for "maturity" from her? Or it's just an excuse from them because they want them to fade?
Yeah I know Avril is not a single artist, but still, her single sales are really embarrassing for the star of her level. I Know it's more important to be an album artist, much better both. But sometimes the single artists appear to be more "powerful" and "better" than album artist who don't sell many singles.
Back to topic, These is something we can mostly agree.
That it's better to see Avril working again with Dr Luke than Avril working with Max Martin ( in terms of quality ) and Butch ( back stabbing and other personal reason )

I would throw her CD in the garbage if every single song was all "serious" and "deep"
Smile could have been a good upbeat mature song if the lyrics in the verses were different. Songs like Mobile, Anything But Ordinary, Falling Down, Move Your Little Self On, Let Go, etc. are some good examples of her mature, upbeat songs. I highly doubt she will work with Dr. Luke again since she rarely works with the same people on more than 1 album, with the exceptions of Evan, Deryck, and Butch, who are her friends (except Butch). I am also surprised that Complicated, I'm With You, or My Happy Ending never went to #1, especially Complicated (though I believe they all made it to #1 on the Top 40, just not Top 100, and Complicated peaked at #2 I think on Hot 100).

"If you wanna bring me down, go ahead and try."
