Chapter 4
RIVER
The day passed in a blur. All these new faces and names that people expect me to remember. I was totally lost after the first few minutes. The day passed altogether too quickly, untill Art, that is. In Art, the teacher told me to wait out in the hall untill she could intorduce me to the class, just like every other teacher. This time, however, something was different. I just knew something was going to happen. The teacher (Mrs. Harper) called me into the room. Showtime. She introduced me, same as all the other teachers, hope you'll meke him feel welcome… blah blah blah. I let my eyes drift around the room, looking for people that I'd actually remember. And then I saw her. The girl from the dream world. She was sitting about three rows back, right in the center of the room. She looked just as pretty as she did then, even without her wings. She was staring right at me, and I knew. I knew that, even with having just a few moments to see me, she knew who I was. Mrs. Harper finally finished talking, and then told me to take a seat right next to her. I sat down, took a few moments to think of something to say to her- just in case she didn't remember me- and asked her a question. I asked her if I knew her from somewhere, and explained that it wasn't me trying to pick her up and that it was an honest question. She took a while to respond. When she did say something, she said that she thiought that she thought that she might actually know me. That was frustrating, her answer was very nondescript, so I still don't know whether or not she knew me or not. I give up. I tell her "Ok, I know that this is going to sound strange, but I think I saw you in a dream last night. I hold my breath and wait for her response. I nearly passed out from lack of oxygen before she replied. "I think I had the same dream." My heart starts racing. I remembered the look on her face after I caught her. Her eyes had stared directly into mine, looking deep into my very soul. Now here we were, in the real world. Looking into each other's eyes again. And for the first time, I saw real beauty, complete purity, in someone' s heart. From that moment on, I just knew. She was the one for me.
