Chapter 5
BLISS
I spent the rest of my day with River, just talking, learning about the dream world. He talked about it like it was his favourite place in the world. I have to admit, it is rather beautiful there. I was fascinated with the way his mouth moved, so strange yet, so sexy at the same time. "Bliss, Bliss!" River said, obviously trying to get my attention. "Yeah?" I said, trying to play it cool. He rolled his eyes. "You kind of zoned out for a second there. So, you wanted to know about the dream world?" ‘Play it cool, man. ’ I thought to myself. "Yeah, how did I get there last night?" he has to think about it for a moment, like the answer was somehow evading him. I could see all kinds of thoughts and emotions swirling around behind his eyes like liquid fire. I wondered what he was thinking. "Only a few people actually get to the dream world. I don't know why or how, but we do. You're one of us now. " he said. I could tell he was still a bit puzzled over it. "Who's us?" "People like you and me, people that belong in the dream world. You go there every night after you're sixteen untill… untill you just stop believing in it. Most people there are under twenty five. That's the age that the majority of the population stops believing in magic. I don't even know how it's possible, to have witnessed something so beautiful, so real, and then to just forget it. Or maybe write it off as a dream. Why…" His voice trailed off into silence. I tried not to read into it too much, but he seemed angry. And kind of sad at the same time. He was almost hurt that people would let themselves slip out of the dream world, to forget it completely. I watched him think for a few moments. It was absolutely fascinating. We were silent for quite some time, untill the bell rang, signalling the end of the day. Suddenly, someone covered my eyes with their hands. "Guess who?" said a voice behind me. "Oh, gee I wonder who it is," I said teasingly. "Could it be… Marc?" "Wow, you're really good at this" said the voice. The hands over my eyes lifted to reveal my boyfriend, Marc. "Um, hi." says River from beside me. Truthfully, I had kind of forgotten that he was there. I introduced him to Marc. They exchanged terse nods, like how guys usually do. River looked slightly puzzled. When I asked him about it, he just brushed it off, saying ‘It's nothing.’ Oh well, I thought to myself. River gave one last look over his shoulder at me, then walked away. Marc touched my cheek lightly to get my attention, then kissed me slow and deep. I had a feeling that he was just showing off, marking his territory so to speak. Truthfully. I didn't really care. But for some reason, even though my lips were on Marc, my mind was on River.
I'm still just that awesome!
