I prefer fan-chosen awards. They seem more meaningful (when they're actually chosen by fans and not rigged or anything).

For example:

Avril winning an award at the MMVAs after two months of dedicated teamwork and voting by thousands of fans all over the world, or...

Avril being given a Grammy chosen by members of the NARAS.

I'd take the MMVA over the Grammy if I had to choose.

Regardless of whether you like the Grammys or not, it would still be awesome if Avril won at least 1 by the end of her career. After 10 years she at least deserves to be nominated again. I can't believe Girlfriend was never nominated!

But as far as nominations go, her album has to be released at the right time (I forget what the dates are) for it to be eligible.

Exactly! It would be awesome if Avril wins a grammy award, so she will be respected more.
Fan chosen awards aren't really that meaningfull in my opinion. The award just goes to the artist with the most or most loyal fans.

In your opinion and maybe in a lot of people's opinions. But I completely disagree. I find any fan-chosen award to be more special than any Grammy award. I don't find the Grammy's the "the best" at all.

What makes the Grammy's better? The name. That's it.

An award chosen by fans all over the world is much more meaningful than one chosen by a handful of professionals in the NARAS.
