How can you explain the general public’s double standard regarding Avril?

I think you'd be surprised how many people like Avril actually - they're just afraid to admit it. The Best Damn Thing was a huge era for Avril, she was really popular. I was in a club last night and I requested Girlfriend and they played it and everybody knew the words and everybody was singing along. Same with When You're Gone - people know I'm a huge fan and they always tell me they love that song.

I don't really understand this afraid to admit that you like an artist approach. I've recently started listening to Taylor Swift. I don't care that her audience is generally early teen girls, I like Taylor's voice and I think she writes some great lyrics and melodies.

I'll always stand by Avril and people have criticised me before but you just learn to shrug it off. Who cares what anybody else thinks! Avril has a huge huge fanbase and people don't realise that just because she hasn't had huge hits in Europe and America over the past couple of years doesn't mean she isn't successful, there are other parts of the world! Look at South America and Asia, she is huge there.

I have good feelings for this next era though and I think she'll really come back into the limelight alot more. Goodbye Lullaby was poorly promoted but since she is with people who seem to care about her career now I think her 5th album will be pushed much more.

But this is my question, can anyone answer this? If the likes of Bieber, Avril, Nickelback and Creed are really hated a lot YET they still manage ( or used to ) to sold milion of albums and sell tour mostly great.

Why is some of the most respected and praised artists such as Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton have low sales if people respect them regard them highly? I mean you will rarely hear any bad comments about them except with their career no longer that huge

Like being #1 in Philippines, Croatia, and Turkey is not really a big deal and will not help an artist sales that much, unlike being big in US and UK

To have a number one in any country is an achievement in my eyes. And she's really popular in China which is a huge up and coming super power... to be popular there really is something. Asia and South America are huge markets. To have such a huge global fanbase a decade after she first started out is really great.

How many Western artists can say they have a huge fan base in Asia though? Avril is pretty much like the only Western artist they listen to over there, except for like Britney and stuff. And sure, maybe artists like Katy/Rihanna/Gaga, etc. are huge in the US and UK but what about their WORLDWIDE fan base? Avril is one of the few Western artists who actually has a large fan base WORLDWIDE, not just in a couple of the "big" countries. If she has hits in the "less important" countries like Turkey or whatever, that should actually be considered more of an achievement, not less. Anyone can have a hit in the US because we listen to a lot of music over here. But in a country like Turkey or Croatia? That's pretty cool, I think. I'm sure Avril thinks it's pretty cool as well to have fans from all different places.

I agree with you on this one, specially that being famous in non Anglo markets and Euro markets is not easy as many people think it is...

However if an artist's relevancy declined in US and UK but still continue to be big in Asian countries, People think it's a bad sign for that artist,

Some even made a nasty remark that Asian markets ( and other irrelevant market ) love left overs from North America, not talking about food but they meant is it's seems that an irrelevant artist are big in Asia, even bigger than the current relevant ones, that they think people here are outdated.

Plus we can't deny that an artist A that is more popular in US and UK will look more popular and more important/relevant than artist B,because the artist B is irrelevant in US in UK although the artist B sold more records worldwide than the artist A/

How many do even care about the Japan's music award shows where Avril won some awards? Very few, and Japan is the 2nd biggest market world wide. And despite being a bigger market than UK and Canada, it seems that the UK and Canadian award shows ( and market ) are view by many as more important than Japans.

Let's face it, people think that Anglo markets are the most important in the music, not only in sales but in terms of importance.

Not only Japan, Germany and France are also big markets but people seem to care more about a #1 in Australia and New Zealand than in those other two.

There are many European/S. American/Asian countries that are or could be quite good music markets, but there just aren't institutions who would provide sales or certifications. Those countries are selling albums/EPs/singles for higher prices, an iTunes stores would do wonders in those countries.
